The Polar Express is favorite holiday book. A number of the teachers at my school are spending a full morning next week exploring themes from the book. I thought I would make them some Polar Express printables for them to do with their students. You might enjoy using them with your children too.
Both of the Jingle Bell Number Mat Printable feature jingle bells I created in Publisher. One of the Polar Express Printables has numbers on each of the bells. The second of the Polar Express Printables has just the bells.
Below you will find several ways to use each of the Polar Express printables. They are just suggestions. You can use them to explore counting with your kids however you want to.
Polar Express Printables Activities
Jingle Bells With Numbers
You can simply have your children place the correct number of bells on each number. You may want to encourage them to count out loud as they place them on the number
Children will need to sort the bells groups. They will end up with a pile of silver bells and a pile of gold bells. They will create an AB pattern row for each number and then place in of the bell.
Then they can count how many of each color of the bells was placed on each of the numbers. This part of the activity will give children a change to explore addition.
Jingle Bells Without Numbers
You can have your children skip count bells. using the second or third row of bells. They will start by putting two bells on each bell picture. Then have them count the row of bells by twos. The same process can be done with three, four, or five bells.
You can have your children write their own numbers randomly on the bells. Then they can place the correct number of bells on each number.
