We were exploring downtown Greenville and came across this red sculpture. It is titled Untitled. When JDaniel and I stopped to look at it, I asked him what he thought it was. He replied “Ys”. It really does look like two ys stacked together.
This sculpture is sort of symbolic of conversations I have with JDaniel some days. They seem to be filled with a least two whys.
Here are a couple of examples:
Conversation One
JDaniel:“Why did we have to stop car?”
Me: “There is a red sign that says stop on it in front of the car”
JDaniel: “Why sign?”
Me: “There are a lot of cars on the road and if we didn’t stop we could hit one.”
JDaniel: “Mom, no cars here.”
Me: “The law says I have to stop anyway”
Conversation Two
Me: “What color is that car in the picture?”
JDaniel: “Orange car”
Me: “Close. What color is that red car in the picture?”
JDaniel: “Orange car”
Me: “Honey, that car is not orange. It is a red car.”
JDaniel: “Why?”
Me: “They decided to make it that color in the book.”
JDaniel: “Why?”

Aww, that is so cute 🙂 I love how children are so curious about everything. They’re logic is so simple that sometimes I can’t help but find it amusing. Can’t wait till E starts to talk so we can have conversations like this too 🙂

I had three sons so there were many conversations like that for many years…then, for awhile, they didn’t converse at all. Now, I can hold decent conversations with them!
Goofed up my Mr. Linky somehow – never went to bed tonight so, probably that’s why; you can find me at:

That is too cute! This is what the 5 year old that my daughter is babysitting said today: ”If you ever see the Fountain of Youth, don’t drink from it. It’s disgusting. And it doesn’t work either”

Those are such cute conversations. We are in the “why” stage too. I love hearing what is going on in their heads, they never seize to amaze me at how much they understand and absorb!

What an awesome post! I love JDaniel’s answers!
Lourie says
I feel like we are stuck in the why phase of life. He has question after question after question. In the example of conversation two, if my son asked me why about the car not being orange, and red was not a good enough answer I might say something like, “Because they wanted it red.” or if there is a ? like, Why is that a door? I will possibly say, because it is not a window.
