JDaniel loved the book Fox in Socks so much when he was little that I made in a fox sock puppet based on the book. Your children probably love it too. I have created a fun set of tangram patterns based on the book that your children can explore. They will have fun exploring basic shapes, problem-solving and working on visual-spatial awareness as the work on them.

If your children heard or read the book recently, you will want to have them read Fox in Socks or listen to your read it to them.
Fox in Socks Tangram Printable Set
You will find three fox-themed tangram pages, one sock theme pattern page, a small tangram set, and a large one in the Fox in Socks Tangram Mats. If you prefer to use plastic tangrams instead of the paper ones in the set, that would be fine.
Once you have downloaded the set, you could print the tangrams out of brown paper. That is what we did.
Exploring the Fox in Socks Tangrams
You can put all of the patterns out on a table or in a center for your children to explore with printed or store-bought tangrams if you like. Some children might find that overwhelming. They may prefer to work on one pattern at a time.
Young children will need for you to help them build each pattern. As you select each shape needed for the pattern, you can have them tell you what that shape is.
Another choice you or your children will need to make is whether the shapes should be placed on the pattern or beside it. Younger children will probably be more successful at building with shapes on the pattern.
