This set of snowman shapes for kids printable puzzles features super fun snowmen heads. Each shape puzzle displays the shape’s name. You will find one letter in each shape’s name of a piece of the puzzle. Your children will have fun putting the pieces together to create a complete shape and shape word.
Building Background Before Starting the Activity
You may have children who haven’t had a lot of experience with shapes and their names. Before you have them explore the snowman shapes for kids puzzles, you may want to read them a book about shapes. This will give them the opportunity to build on their understanding of shapes. Below you will find some of my favorite children’s books with a shape theme.

Getting Ready for the Shapes for Kids Activity
- The first thing you will need to do is to download the Snowman Shapes for Kids Printable Puzzles.
- Then you will need to open the set with Acrobat Reader.
- Next, you will need to decide which puzzles you want to print out. You will also need to decide if you want them to be black and white or in color.
- Finally, you will need to decide if you want your children to cut out the puzzle pieces or you want to cut them out for them.
Exploring the Shapes for Kids Activity
While you will notice that we used our shape puzzles on a tabletop, you can use them a number of ways.
- My friend Meghan laminates her puzzles and places magnetic tape on the back of each piece. Her students then place the pieces in order on a giant oil drip pan.
- You could attach each puzzle to a sheet of adhesive backed felt. Then your children could put the pieces together on a felt board.
- You can glue a few of the pieces onto a piece of paper. Your children could then fill in the missing pieces with pieces you give them.
