STEM challenge task cards for Halloween invite children to come up with their own creative ways to build each challenge on a card. While we used LEGO to build the happy ghost, your children can use whatever materials they have available to them.
Getting Ready for the STEM Challenge Task Cards for Halloween
First, you will need to download the set.
Second, if you don’t have Acrobat Reader you will need to download it. The algorithm page is an Acrobat Reader PDF file.
Third, you must go to your download file and open the page. You may be asked if you want the file to open right after downloading it. You won’t have to hunt for it in your download file if you are.
Printing Out the STEM Challenge Task Cards for Halloween
While we printed out the cards on colored paper, you could print them out on colored cardstock or white paper.
Laminating the Cards
You can have your children work on the paper uncovered if you like. However, if you laminate the mats you can use them over and over again. Below you will find links for a laminator I recommend. There are also links for laminator pouches, paper, and cardstock.

Exploring the Challenge Cards
The challenge cards could be used in a maker’s space, STEM center, LEGO wall, or at your kitchen table. You can have children all build the same object or each work on their own card. That is really up to you.
It is important to listen to children’s insights into how and why they build their creations the way they did. It will help us learn about them.
