Owl Moon is one of my favorite wintertime tales. Jane Yolen does a wonderful job involving the reader into a hunt for owls one cold winter night. The pictures by John Schoenherr draw you in and make you want to go on your own owl hunt. JDaniel is now dying to search the backyard in the dark to look for owls.

Always such cute ideas!!
I adore that book and you really made this so cute!
I think we’re expecting a wintry mix here today. I’d rather have snow!
This is one of my favorite children’s books; the lunch you made for JDaniel is really sweet. I love the owl!
What a great lunch. We saw a snowy owl whilst out walking on Christmas night. My boys were amazed.
LOVE IT!!! Hope you are having a beautiful day!!!
The owl is adorable! Good luck with your owl spotting.
I love this book and think I will get it out and read it to Ben.. Owls are so cool and this time of year they are mating.. so you will hear them hoot and it sounds like they are saying “Who cooks for you” Who cooks for you all”… Love it~!~!
Have a great and tiggeriffic day~! ta ta for now from Iowa…:)
That book is great. We love it. There is a song that goes with that book too; the sign language for it is really fun.
What a very creative muffin tin!
We haven’t read that book. Wish we had it – yesterday Pierce was painting a wooden owl mask we found in the $1 bin and we were having a huge discussion about owls. That book would’ve fit right in!
What a “hoot” of a meal! (hee! hee!)
We love that book at our house! I don’t know why but we always read it when we build a tent in the living room. The boys always request Owl Moon and Zen Shorts for the tent. What a great meal. I think I may copy it sometime. Thanks for the great idea.
Great lunch! Great book too!
So fun – we haven’t read that book – looks like we need to! I love lunches with books – they are so fun!
Oh, and enjoy that snow!!!!
So creative, as always!
oo love that you incorporated the book into the lunch!!
What fun! I love that you tied it into the book your read.
Love that you used the book as the theme! Such a great idea!
Lunch and good book… always a hit! Love the owl, by the way, and Happy Monday my dear!
Love the owl! BTW the blossoms are really easy to make. Fold a piece of turkey over and then cut slits on the along the folded side. Then you just roll the turkey tightly and cut off some of the side without the slits. Does that make sense? LOL
Lovely lunch – especially the owl!
We love Owl Moon…just re-read it this week! I love the foot tracks in the “snow”….great idea!
NEAT! I am always so impressed with the moms who plan out meals so well. I’m lucky that I get crafts and books going in sync!
I love that Owl! Too cute!
the owl is precious!!!!!
I love this book and your lunch is so cute. I’m sharing the link on my FB page! 🙂
What a great tin…i love the footprint :0)
Even though my boys are older, I’m going to look into Owl Moon. Some books transcend age – this sounds like one of them:) Happy New Year!
I LOVE that book — we read it all the time around here. And what a creative lunch idea — kudos to you!
I always LOVED Owl Moon – it’s been around for awhile now! And your coordinating muffin tin meal is great. The sandwich owl is too cute!
