My husband had been single and living in our house for over twelve years when we got married. There were interesting pieces of shall we call it “nostalgia” tucked in nooks and crannies all over the house. We believe somehow in rush to clean a bedroom that had a lot of nostalgia in it I might have discarded the remote control to a robot dog. After that, we came to an agreement that if I found something that I wasnโt sure we needed to keep, I needed to check with him first.
After being married a few months I found this lovely large plastic bug in a bedside table drawer. I am not sure of how or why it came to live at our house. I returned it to the drawer and left to discuss at a later date. It remained in the drawer for quite a while before I remember we had it.
Now that JDaniel is two this large bug has many uses. It can play hide and seek around the house. The bug makes a great pointer when JDaniel is asked to locate a letter in a puzzle or a picture in an I Spy book.
If you need to stop a train coming down a track, he can do that too.

How funny. Did you ever find out why he had a plastic bug in a drawer to begin with? Love the shot of the bug on the train tracks! Kathy
lol, that was too funny!
Did hubby even remember it was his to begin with?
A toddler can put just about anything to use ๐
A gift from a previous, entomologically inclined girlfriend? Funny post:-) Peace and blessings
Great use for the bug lol. Great clever u post.
In my pre-k classroom I use all sorts of unusual stuff! YOu might find an african drum used to start morning meeting, or a metal box filled with fun meal toys as a story telling prop! I love odd stuff!!
I like the bug!! LOL
Ah ..the things men collect! It is a cute bug at least!
Loved the bug on the train tracks! I laughed at the description of big Dan’s house before marriage!
That’s cute! Isn’t it weird what they have kept for years. I had to put some of his “stuff” in our room to get it out of the visible areas of our home. lol
So now when I tell my husband “this might come in handy some day,” he’ll have to listen!
Not to mention flashlight and to scare moms. Like the U words in the title. And why exactly did he have the bug?
bugs … icky … why or why would he have a plastic bug in a drawer??? wait, i don’t think i want to know …
Good Morning,
This is a funny “U” post. You just never know why or what people consider “nostalgic”. I’ve kept some pretty weird stuff too! Looks like that bug has become quite a helper…now, aren’t you glad you kept it?
Have a great THURSDAY and a fabulous weekend.
Funny and quite, um, interesting…..
: ) That is great that you found a use for a big plastic bug : ) Aren’t little boys the best? I miss the stage your baby is in! : )
Love it. GReat “U” post!! ๐
Have voted!!

Well you know how much boys like bugs…this is perfect.
What a great bug! So many uses…good thing you didn’t throw it away!
I think everything has its use, we just have to find it
thanks for your visit
That is a very useful bug ! I am delighted for you that you kept it too ๐
What a fun bug. Did you find out what it was for?
Not too sure I’d want to use that bug for anything! I’m not a fan of creepy crawlies.
Maggie
that is a great use for an unusual bug ๐
That is too funny! Love little boy imaginations.
Nice bug! And (yes) useful, too.
๐
PS. Thanks for your comment on my poem today.
What a great and fun Alphabe-Thursday post!
We used to have a plastic cockroach that we would trick each other with. I’m not sure where it was but because of our brief infestation with real roaches when they re-did the sewer I probably would be less than nostalgic about it anyway! ha!
I tried to vote for you but I can’t find your blog on that site. Do you mind e-mailing me a link to where you are?
Thanks for a fun link this week! You made me smile!
A+
How good of you to hang onto to it and find uses for it!! That SO would have gone in the trash!!
funny how children seem to get attached to certain toys and will do everything with them!
Husbands can get attached to the oddest objects!
I’m off to vote for you – you bet!
Too funny~ it does look awfully cute sitting on the train track ๐
haha! Sounds like…you have a lot of inquiring minds wanting to know…Why exactly did your hubby have this bug/fly?
But what a great useful critter, it turned out to be!
Blessings & Aloha!
I will try to vote…computers and I sometimes don’t cooperate together very well…
Thank you also for stopping by :o)
My husband doesn’t remember why he bought the fly.
Now he is saying he is Super Fly.
Very Creative ~ Boys love bugs!! Thanks for sharing!
My boyfriend has a pretend mouse that comes out and terrorizes me on occasion.
voting…right…now…
You do know the rule, the minute you get rid of something, you then need it! Even a plastic bug! Cute post!!

cute love story…
smiles!
Hey, I will go vote! Also, LOVE the uses for the bugs…my girls would FREAK Out at those old things but I am glad you kept them and they were put to good use!
Well, I think as bugs go this one is pretty cute!
Some “stuff” should never leave our home. ๐
Great twist on the title – we have loads of seemingly useless stuff that’s bound to be useful one day!
That’s a cute ugly thing! I love the way Daniel has used it so well and so lovingly.
Thanks for dropping by my place. I really appreciated your take on peeing in a cup.
What a fun post, and I like your shot of the bug on train track too.
CUTE! and I have the same question…did you ever find out why hubby had the bug to begin with?
Susan
there is always a good reason to have a plastic bug lying around the house. i happen to have a small rubber mouse that sits on my windowsill. i have no idea why i have it..but i am certain it will come in handy one day…just as the bug did!
That’s fun! Love all the uses you found for your “bug”!
Wbat a cool looking bug! ๐
Tell me the bug has a name! hahaha. I loved this post.
Nostalgic nooks…what an Unusual way to say STUFF! This was a fun post!
they can make the best playthings out of anything….that bug looks useful to me!
