The I Spy forest Animals Looking at Me set focuses on counting how many of each animal is on a page. You will find a set of pages that has number of animals displayed on it. Next, you will find a set of pages that have fewer animals on it. It will be up to you to decide which page to use.
One of each of those sets has a page that asks children to record their data with a number. There is also a set that has the data recorded with tally marks. Once again t will be up to you to decide which version and which way of recording you want your children to use.
Exploring the Activity Pages
Before starting any of the pages, children can go through the forest animal flashcards that come with the set. The animals displayed on each card can be shared and talked about. While some children will know a lot about the I Spy forest animals, other may not know anything. However, you can read them one of the books shared below to forest animals so they can build background about them before you start the activity.
Once you have discussed the I Spy forest animals, you can have your children explore the pages. One page invites children to record how many times they find each animal with tally marks. The other page asks children to write a number that represents the number of times.
