The summertime is the perfect time to read out of this world science fiction books. Kids can explore faraway worlds or see our world through the eyes of an alien. This is part of a series called Reading Everything Under the Sun that encourages kids to explore books of all different genres. Last week I shared with your some wonderful book about fables.

When three aliens crash on Earth, one of them is taken to Area 51. Will his friends be able to save him and take him home? We had blast reading this book together!

When a girl goes out to her father’s field to check out a mysterious circle, she finds an alien on vacation there. The alien can transform into any animal and speak almost any language. Yes, even a rabbit.
When a boy tries to tell his parents that space guys have landed in his room during the night, they tell him he needs to go back to sleep. With three space guys in your room reeking havoc that is just not possible. In the morning when the parent see pictures of the night visitors they are shocked.
Commander Toad and his crew (All the names based on Star Wars and Star Trek characters) aboard the spaceship Space Warts travel to a water planet. Deep Wader doesn’t like have them visiting the planet and decides they might make a great lunch. Commander Toad ends up being very thank that he has a very smart crew to help me! This book is part of series of Commander Toad books.
Jimmy Zangwow’s Out-of-This-World Moon-Pie Adventure
JDaniel’s teacher read this book to his class when they were studying the moon. He couldn’t stop talking about how Jimmy built a ship, traveled to moon to get as many Moon Pies as he wanted, and ran into aliens. Why did he head to the moon? His mom said he couldn’t have before dinner snack. (Sounds a little like me!) We rushed to library to checked it out so I would read it too.
Oluu arrives in Vermont and is just to observe humans. She is too stay invisible. Well, as you can imagine she doesn’t follow the guidelines. She shifts into a dog and spends a lot of time with family she comes to care for.
The Blobbies come to Earth when two of them set loose the Hexcones on their home planet. Will they ever be able to go home? I love that this book talks about colors and shapes as well as space. Kids will love how this book has much like a comic book.
This is a space alien version of “Hush, Little Baby”. Kids will love how the song has been changed so it fits what an alien parent would say to their child at bedtime. This is a sweet book.
A boy and a space alien both end up stranded on different sides of the moon. Once they find each other, they need to work together to make their way home.
Thank goodness aliens love to steal underpants from Earthlings! They totally end up using them to save the Earth when it come under attack.
When Aric an alien from Ganoob crawls out of Richard’s cereal bowl, he knows his plans for the day are going to change. He and Aric are going to have to do all they can to save the world from terrible aliens.
A boy and a robot meet in the woods. They have a wonderful time playing until the robots off switch is accidentally hit. The boy takes him home and tries to make him better. When the boy falls asleep and the robot it turned back on, the robot tries to turn him back on. Will the robot’s inventor get both of them back on at the same time?
Space Taxi: Water Planet Rescue (Space Taxi, 2)
We have love the Space Taxi series. Space Taxi: Water Planet Rescue is our current bedtime book. While we love the boy and his dad in the book, the Intergalactic Security Force space cat Pockets is our favorite character. All three of the main characters travel to the planet Nautilus to find out why it is loosing water.
