JDaniel was awesome through all the testing on Friday. It may have been due to the fact that he could have lollipop during the test. (A Blogfrog friend suggested I bring in a lollipop when I mentioned the testing. It acts as a pain inhibitor and is just fun to have.) He also got to watch a video he had never seen before on Blues Clues.
So, what are the results of the tests? He had a slight irritation in the dust area. All other areas were clear. The nurse said that his immune system isn’t fully developed and that he may test positive for things if we do the test again in a few years.
JDaniel is on four medications to bring down the swelling around his eyes and cheeks. (He loves taking the medicine.) The breakouts that looked like acne on his cheeks are clearing up a lot. He still complains every now and then about his eyes hurting. It could be pollen that bothers him. It could be that he is allergic to pollen and the test didn’t pick it up.
It looks like we will still be inside on high pollen days.

I need to take my two youngest to the allergist – and my husband, too! I hope you guys are feeling better (because when the little ones don’t mom gets worn out, too). I agree, here’s to low pollen days:)

I think that is good news–but I suspect you were hoping for a clear answer. Maybe he will out grow the irriation. At our house the noses are running and I am afriad my kids might have my allergies. Have a great day!

Poor guy! Will you do the test again in a few years? Or only if problems persist?
GlowinGirl says
Isn’t it frustrating to go through all that, get the all clear, and know there’s still a problem?
I hope it’s better soon! My oldest is really suffering right now too. Grass actually seems to bother him more than pollen, but we were cold-soaking the eyes again last night to bring the swelling down!

My son also has allergies. He has been tested as well but he tested postive for everything. Your dr was right that just bc he didnt test postive for these things this time doesnt mean he wont later. My son was tested for milk allergy at 10 months and tested negative but then tested positive for it at 18 M. What type of allergy test did he have?
Lindsey says
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
My son had the Rasp test. It is done with just one blood draw and is supposed to be more accurate than the skin prick. My lil man was only 18M at the time and I didnt want him skin pricked so we searched for an allergy dr who used the Rasp instead of the skin prick.
What allergy meds is he on?

After having a pretty significant reaction to a bee sting, I got tested two yrs ago. I tested negative to everything (including bee’s and pollen despite the fact that I had to stop taking my allergy meds and couldn’t BREATHE the whole time I was off of them).
The doctor told me I was having allergic reactions as opposed to an actual allergy. I fail to see the difference. Either way, he said to treat them the same.
Go figure!!
Stopping by from UBP!!

wow, testing can be a useful thing, but sometime confusing, I found.
we had our boy tested as a toddler, he had a few scary cases of hives, had chronic eczema and rashes, and had bad diaper rashes I finally figured out from apple juice and milk, strawberries and blueberries. Amazingly, he didn’t test out allergic to any foods..big mystery. He did test allergic to outdoor mold, which explained our yearly ER visits for asthma everytime we went to the mountains in the fall.
I still avoided those foods, the Dr. couldn’t really explain it, and he could see the eczema. He did out grow the food thing eventually.
hope your little one feels better soon.

Hi there! So glad you came by from the UPB! Ya know, I have AWFUL allergy like symptoms and recently got tested for the first time and reacted to NADA! They said I have chronic non-allergic rhinitis. (Affected by allergins but not technically allergic) wonder if he could have something similar? Sure hope it all clears up asap. Going to follow you, hope you come on back to visit sometime 🙂

My guy is on allergy drops that are made by pur allergy dr. He said they were the same thing thats in a shot but you give them as drops under tongue 2x a week instead of 6 shots per week. He also takes Singular to help control his allergy induced asthma.
We also have to use the Aveeno lotion for exczema to help keep that under control.
Does he have any other reactions besides the rash and swelling? The only time my guy has the swelling on his face is if he eats ranch dressing. Anywhere the ranch touches immediatley swells and turns red.
