We have a little ant problem in the kitchen. We have sprayed and put out traps. The ants seem to disappear only to reappear a few weeks later. As I started sweeping them up after breakfast this morning, this song came into my head. I have changed some words to fit our situation. Please feel free to sing along.
The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching one by one, the little one stops to pick up a crumb,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching two by two. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching two by two. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching two by two, the little one stops to gnaw on a fruit chew,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch. Boom, Boom, Boom!
The ants go marching three by three. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching three by three. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching three by three, the little one stops for a scrap of turkey,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching four by four. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching four by four. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching four by four, the little one finds a Cheerio and looks for more,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching five by five. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching five by five. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching five by five, the little one looks for a morsel to survive,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching six by six. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching six by six. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching six by six, the little one eats a strand of a celery stick,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching seven by seven. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching seven by seven. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching seven by seven, the little one searches for food not swept up by eleven,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching eight by eight. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching eight by eight. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching eight by eight, the little one snacks on tidbits that fell off a plate,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching nine by nine. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching nine by nine. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching nine by nine, the little one thinks small food scraps are fine,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ants go marching ten by ten. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching ten by ten. Hurrah, hurrah!
The ants go marching ten by ten, they don’t realize JDaniel’s Mom set a trap of them,
And they all march under the table to see if JDaniel left them any lunch, Boom! Boom! Boom!
Here’s hoping we stay ant free!

It is a real problem down here, isn’t it? We have to spray the foundation every other week. They’re so persistent!

I knew this song, but not up to that many numbers. Thanks! 🙂

We are overrun with ants every summer. They appear out of every crack or crevice, eventually growing wings and planting themselves all over the walls and ceilings as well as the floor and worksurfaces! SO… I LOVE that they ended up in your trap 🙂
Mary says
Hope the ants go marching away 🙂

This is usually the time of year we start seeing a few ants in our kitchen window. That’s when I get out the old thumb!

My daughter had a big time problem with ants this last spring. I bought some ant and roach spray and went outside and sprayed the foundation. Then I sprayed all window sills, door sills along the backsplash of the sink in bathroom and kitchen.. They look for a water source when they are inside. It took couple days and they were gone.. didn’t return all summer. Now she is having mice problems.. I bought some D-con and put it where the most mouse droppings were..after eating 4 boxes they are gone.. But I replaced the boxes because there will be another wave of those rascals.
I loved your song..
When I was a custodian at the school the ants would come into the teachers desks in armies. The teachers would leave candy, cough drops ect. in their desks.. when they came back in the fall ~ all they found were empty wrappers with little pin holes in the wrappers. Lol.. I always chuckled…

We just finished getting rid of the ants in our house and it was horrible! We seem to deal with it twice a year – when it’s getting hot and when it’s getting cold. We found that they were actually getting in from under our dishwasher. One small ant trap later and they were completely gone.

Ugh…I hate ants. They seem to plague me everywhere I go when I lived in the states. I’m glad we don’t have ant problems in Tokyo. A good thing too because the ants here are HUGE!
