What is the toddler style? It means we will be celebrating at 12 noon on New Year’s Eve with JDaniel.
What do you need for a toddler style celebration?
Ingredients:
Food
A meal that matches a place in the world that is actually celebrating New Year’s a twelve midnight.
We are actually going to cheat and have Chinese food even if it is really a thirteen-hour time difference. You can check The World Clock and find a country that is twelve hours ahead of you.
Balloons
Mixed Drinks
You may have your own fun kiddy cocktail. We love juice here and don’t keep it in the house all the time.
Treat Cracker
An old toilet paper tube covered in tissue is a perfect treat holder. We will be having little candies in ours. We will pull them at 12 noon to start the New Year off with a bang.
What are your New Year’s Eve plans?

These are great ideas! When my son was little, we used to celebrate the New Year in the early evening … maybe 7pm. I love your idea, though, as it gives the “count down to midnight” effect.
Now that my son is 13, he wants to stay up for midnight and I’m ready for bed at 8! 🙂

You are such a fun ToddlerMom! JDaniel’s going to have so much fun bringing in the NewNoon Year! I think I may do the same….I haven’t been able to stay awake until mid-night the last few years! Maybe a Toddler Nap would help! LOL!!! Cute post! Happy New Year JDaniel4’s Mom!
Teresa says
That is such a wonderful idea, and you are such a great mom! Have a Happy New Year!
Veronica Lee says
Such wonderful ideas!! Love them.
Happy New Year!!
Stef says
So fun! We usually do the count down with NYC and then my kids crash with their cousins. Hubs goes to bed early and I ring the new year on me own! Heehee.
Making It Work Mom says
Sooo Cute! My almost 9 year old son announced that he wants to stay up until midnight this year. My first reaction was “oh crap that means I have to stay up too!”
I like your solution better!
Rocky Mountain Woman says
I am going to a neighbor’s house for a little get together. They have twin two year old cuties who I just love to play with. The babies will go to bed early, but I usually get to go see them for a little bit before they get banished!
I hope you and your sweet little family are happy and healthy in the new year….
xxoo,
RMW

Well, it sounds like a perfect New Year’s gala! Have fun!
Melissa says
Noon! What a great idea. I also read of someone who is waking up her toddler with confetti, noise makers, and hats on 1/1/11. As for me, I haven’t finalized plans for my Reedlets yet…but will come up with something. :o)

Cool ideas! Wish you a happy and peaceful new year!

Dancing is definitely part of our celebrations. I can’t believe there were no music at all at Christmas with my hubs family. It hit me after I left. I’m a music fan.
Your plans sounds fun!!!
We have no plans at the moment. Not sure when it will come about.
Happy New Year celebrating!
Queenie Jeannie says
Ohmygosh! That is just a super sweet idea!!!!
This year, I just hope to go to bed early and get some SLEEP!!!!!!!!!! Needing some badly!
Next year, I hope to actually go to a fancy, smancy party and get all dolled up! It’s a huge festival over here, with many masked balls!!!
Gattina says
Nothing special this year, the streets are icy and there is still a lot of snow. I order a sushi menu and we watch TV and at midnight celebrate with our neighbors.

Such fun ideas! We set our clocks back and celebrate midnight a few hours early.:) We’ll be doing a time capsule for the first time this year.
varunner says
Last year at noon we carried a bunch of ball pit balls into the balcony and tossed them down into the living room. Pierce loved it.
Now I want Chinese food.
The girl who painted trees says
Great ideas. I never thought of including my little ones in on the celebration.

This is such a great idea! In Puerot Rican culture, you spend New Year’s eve doing what you would like to do in the coming year. So our family is going to our Children’s Museum for the day, because we would like to spend the coming year spending time together, exploring and learning.
★Mumsy★ says
We will be playing some games, drinking cola, eating, napping in between..and just relax.
Happy New Year!
SnoopyGirl says
We are going to try and play our new game ‘Scene it!’ I am planing on getting chinese food and we will probably do an early toast with sparkling grape juice. Since at 5 and 7 we don’t stay up with the kids ’til midnight yet. I hope you and Daniel have lots of fun!
A Daddy Blog says
Hey there. Hope you all have a great New Year’s celebration. We’ll all be together at home. Not sure at barely 2 years of age how the concept of a “new year” will play? Once she goes to sleep we’ll watch the ball drop in Time Square at 11pm (my wife used to live in NYC) and then head to bed. Doubt we’ll stay up for midnight Dallas time. 😉
Sue says
What a fun idea!
We will probably have dinner with the family and then go home, make a fire, and crack open the Martinelli’s.
=)

What creative ideas… I bet your little guy will have a blast.
We might have to implement something like this around here. As I get older, I just can’t stay up to ring in the new year anymore… it’s bed around 9 for mom and dad, too!
Lori says
Sounds like you are going to have an awesome celebration with creativity plus!
We are going to revisit 2010 and talk about our goals and hopes for the New Year, followed by a family movie and board game, I’m hoping for Monopoly.
My children love the Welch’s Sparkling Red Greap Juice Cocktail and we rarely have it in the house, but since I had 2 $2 off coupons I splurged this year.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year’s Celebration and a fabulous 2011.
Jingle says
toddler’s style is cool,
food, balloons, and enthusiasm, perfect new year celebration…
Happy 2011.
Thanks for the love and support of 2010.

That looks like so much fun!
I feel sort of bad that my kids aren’t doing a thing on that day and I plan on putting them to bed at 8 so I can have quiet time 🙂

That is a great idea! I never thought of celebrating at noon. We’re definitely doing that. I know Bejing is 12 hours ahead of us because my sister was there not too long ago adopting her little boys! So yeah, we’ll have Chinese food for our lunch. I love all these ideas. I was just going to skip new years with the kids since it happens at night while they sleep. This way I won’t have to skip it.
Judie says
Our favorite is dinner and a movie, just the two of us. We’ve had enough parties in our life, and now we just want to be by ourselves!
RNSANE says
One does have to make alternative plans with a little one in the house. I think you’ll enjoy your New Year’s Eve daytime party with your son as much as you would watching the ball drop in Time’s Square!
Melissa {adventuroo} says
This is so cute and creative! We’re going to a friend’s house for something similar. Such an awesome idea!

Great ideas! I’m you’re newest follower – I think you’ve commented on my blog! Too cool!

I love all your ideas! Have a very happy new year.

Fun ideas! For New Year’s, we have fun finger foods, hats, silly string and board games. It’s one of the only nights of the year that my five year old gets to stay up as late as he wants! I just linked to your REL all the crafts we did.
Lindsay says
oohh love this idea of celebrating at noon.. hmm that is less than an hour away for me… wonder what I can pull off!
Missy says
We did this today, thanks to your awesome idea! We ordered Chinese food, danced, played with balloons and streamers and then had a nice long rest time (for both mom and boys!). We had a ball – we’ll do this from now on!
Combatbootmom says
We invite over a couple of families with kids and celebrate New Years at 8pm. We switch the clock so it reads midnight. Every year the kids brag about how they stayed up until midnight! We are going to make a peace dove craft, wear party hats and toast with sparkling apple juice. As I slave over party food I am wishing we ordered Chinese!
Together Time 4 Families says
Happy New Year! I love visiting your blog and reading what you have to share. My best to you in 2011!
I think this could be an idea for a family New Year’s game. We did this for adults and it was soo much fun! The game is to make a set of Rudloph antlers from a pair of panty hose (not control top) by stuffing them with balloons. The first team to make the antlers stand up – and wear them on your head- and sing Jingle Bells is the winner! A silly game that I think children and adults would enjoy doing.
Again Happy New Year!

That is adorable! I love that idea…. we celebrated by going to bed early….in other words no celebration here! Maybe next year! Stopping by from BF

Brilliant! I never thought of that idea but I wish I would have!
Clever, clever you!
I think you need to write a book. You have such creative talents in child-rearing and entertaining.
Wishing you a 2011 filled with more adventures, large and small, discoveries and lots of Merry and Bright!
Thank you for linking.

Great idea to celebrate earlier and match it to another time zone… I wonder what time it is for us (in Australia) when it is midnight in Antarctica… that’s the earliest possible time zone before ours, but it may still be too late for my smallest… hmm… you’ve got me thinking! Thanks for a fab idea!
