I found this wonderful idea in part of my Sunday paper. It suggested taking a picture of a special ring in between pages of a special passage in the book to create a heart-shaped shadow. I thought this would be a wonderful gift for my husband
I tried my wedding band first, but I couldn’t get it to balance. After many attempts, I switched to my engagement ring. It would balance but, only with the diamond side down.
The verse I selected as my special passage comes from the book of Ruth chapter 1 verses 16-17a. This is one of the bible passages that were read on my wedding day. I love it for so many reasons. The biggest reason is that Ruth chooses to follow her mother-in-law back to her native land rather than stay in the place she was born and raised in. She left behind all she knew to follow someone she loved.
Here is the verse:
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.
When I got married, I left Virginia and move to South Carolina where my husband lived. It meant living behind all that I had ever known. I left behind my job of nineteen years, my friends, my house, my church, my bible study, and prayer group. It seemed like I was leaving behind everything I knew and loved to follow the man of love.
He is very much worth it!
What verse would you select for this project?
Homeschool on the Croft says
Ps 89 v15 has always been special to us. We sang this at our wedding:
O greatly blessed the people are
the joyful sound that know
In brightness of Thy face, O Lord
They ever on shall go.
(This is the Scottish Metrical version.)
I think maybe I’d choose this verse, because we, the Lord’s people, are so blessed. Like you, the greatest blessing outside of having Christ as my Saviour is my husband and the life that has brought me. But being ‘in Christ’ is still the *greatest* blessing.
Love the idea! Love, Anne

Thanks for the idea. My newspaper had this article in last Sunday too. I chose 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13 verse 13 “And now abideth faith, hope ,charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity”. The way it fell in my personal Bible, (Kings James Version from when I was confirmed as a youth)I was able to include it in my ring’s shadow picture.

What a cool idea – the heart is my “favorite shape” – I know that sounds weird but well, there it is. I wouldn’t begin to know what a good verse would be…well, actually one just jumped to mind, perhaps I’ll consider that one!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog! And…I wish I could say I don’t tailgate people!
Have a great weekend-

What a neat idea! I would use the verse “What God has joined let man not separate” because that’s what’s engraved on our wedding bands.

What a wonderful verse…I can see using it for a variety of people…an encouragement verse for someone undergoing trials, a love verse for kids, on the door of our house we have the verse “as for me and my house we will serve the lord”, a comfort verse for someone who is ill…the possibilities are endless!

Your story reminds me of my mother. She moved from Texas to Utah when she married my dad. It was difficult for her, but her love for my dad was strong.

I would use 1 Corinthians 13:4,5
4: Love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5: It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Such a great passage. I tell my husband that all the time – that I will follow him anywhere. We just moved cross country for his career, but it also meant that I get to stay home with my son.
