It could be really wonderfully delicious second slice of chocolate cake that you really don’t need.
It could be a cup of coffee offered when you walk into playgroup.
JDaniel has started saying, “No, Thank you”. He says it all the time. When we are out in public, people are so impressed when they hear him say it. While it is better than hearing no over and over, it is starting to sound just the same to me.
“Would you like to go to the potty?” I ask
He replies, “No, Thank you.”
“I need you to help me pick up toys” I say.
He replied, “No, Thank you.”
“It is time for you to take a bath! I exclaim.
He replies, “No, thank you.”
“We are going to have just one cookie for snack,” I inform him.
He replies, “No, thank you.”
It really sounds like he is trying to overrule what I am telling him.
Does it work for me? No, it really doesn’t.
Do I want to keep hearing it? No, thank you.
Well, in a polite way it would be okay as long as it isn’t part of a coup attempt.

Aw! haha…that does sound really so much better than just plain ol’ “NO!” I had to laugh when I imagined him replying to your question of “Would you like to go to the potty?”
Blessings & Aloha!
I appreciate your visits and comments :o)

Um, I have some lessons to learn from your little guy – I’m hopeless at saying ‘no’ (with or without ‘thank you’)

That is gorgeously funny!

Maybe we all could take a little lesson from him! I love it! How polite even if it seems like a coup ;). I saw that you stopped by and just wanted to check in and see what was going on in your world today!

I love how kids figure how to use new phrases likes that. Now, I hope you won’t say “No, thank you” to the “Irresistibly Sweet Award.” It’s waiting for you over at my blog, Come get it when you have a chance. The URL is http://www.thisthat-herethere.com/2011/02/irresistibly-sweet-award.html

They seem to sense very early on that defiance while polite gets them in less trouble! 🙂

What a nice boy to say No, thank you. He would instead scream and cry like my little one when he doesn’t want to do something. My oldest has started saying I love you when she doesn’t want to do something or she senses she might be in trouble. It’s so funny how kids learn these things.

Hahahaha, this is so funny. Isn’t it funny that kids get the hidden meaning behind the polite phrasing so quickly?

This post made me laugh! I get a sweet “no thank you” to soooo many things like this too.

Ha! So funny. Love this story.

So my son J has used that a few times … I’m glad it didn’t catch on yet. Yes, it’s “adorable” to hear such polite words, but you’re right, it can’t replace obeying!

lol, at least he is polite, it bothers me to hear kids just say no…
