Instead of filling his basket with sugar I am going to try an alternative idea. The plan is to give them this bunny shaped deviled egg tray of eggs with healthy snacks. (Least you protest he must have something sweet. He will also be getting a small chocolate bunny from my mom along with a Curious George DVD, and a small plastic bunny game.)
I found a bunch of health organic snacks at Whole Foods to fill his eggs with. I found Honey and Chocolate Grahams from Annie’s Home Grown, Annie’s Organic Bunny Fruit Snacks, and Barabara’s Oatmeal Snackables in animal shapes, and an organic fruit strip (not pictured in the tray).
Oh! Please think about joining the that The Activity Mom and I was hosting this week. Here is the box JDaniel and I put together for an activity we are doing for this Friday’s Read.Explore.Learn post.
Lisa @ Two Bears Farm says
What a cute deviled egg tray! Where did you find it? Love the use of the eggs.
We got some of those Annie’s cheddar bunnies for the basket as well.

I like the idea of recycle tissue boxes, and I read on my friend’s blog that we could use the tissue box to stuff plastic grocery bag as a dispenser too.
phasejumper says
Cute idea! He will love it! I’m serving the bunny cheese crackers to the kids for my rabbit themed brunch on Friday!

The the plastic eggs!
Believe it or not, I have not decided what to do yet!
I better get on the ball!
Happy Monday!

That is a really good idea! We are actually going to be driving up to my parents’ on Easter Sunday, so we will be doing baskets the next week-I have no idea! I haven’t thought that far ahead!
Desperate Housemommy says
I sort of envy you for doing this. I’m folding like a cheap suit and going with jelly beans. Again. It is as much for me as it is for The Cherubs.
Shell says
Very cute!
We will be out of town for Easter, so I went with pre-stuffed eggs to make it easy!
Liz says
Awwww! This is the best Muffin Tin ever! I never would have thought to use a deviled egg dish.
The Iowa Farmer's Wife says
Cute cute cute! We did a few egg halves in one of our tins this week too! We are stuffing ours with stickers!
Jessica says
I love all of the Annie treats.
I try to give my kids little toys instead of candy for Easter treats.
Heather (One Take On Life) says
Fun idea! My kids Easter baskets will have a movie each, because there are some great deals on movies at Target this week, and a bubble blower thing, because they love blowing bubbles. I do hide candy in the easter eggs fro them to find.
Theresa says
oh how cute!!!! that tray is adorable!
my daughter has a food allergy, so we stay away from chocolate, however we do go to the local easter egg hunt the day before easter, so in our easter baskets you will only find a new tag book, new headbands, coloring books and moon dough and a few other misc. fun things 🙂 I *might* get some skittles to put in a few eggs. we’ll see!
Heather says
What a cute idea! I really haven’t thought about the Easter baskets too much, I’m such a procrastinator. I know one thing I want to get my daughter is the DVD Tangled and my son will be something Transformers.
Combatbootmom says
The Easter bunny will be bringing one wii game for each child, a book, socks, nuts and a few pieces of candy. They both love reeses peanut butter cups!
Hilary says
The Easter bunny is bringing plastic sand buckets and shovels instead of baskets this year. They will be stuffed with hot wheels, washable watercolor paints, a few books, some hair things, etc. I think I will get each kid a small chocolate bunny, but that’s it as far as the edible stuff goes. I need to get my hands on some Annie’s products. I wonder if Trader Joe’s carries them?
Meredith says
What a fun idea!
Krissy @ B.Inspired says
I’ve been eyeing up some of those egg trays in the stores lately, but haven’t bought any yet. I just might have to now to serve some cute snacks on! Thanks for the inspiration ~ as always! 🙂
Grumpy Grateful Mom says
What a cute idea! Those bunny crackers are a favorite with my kids!
Tammy says
What a great idea! We’re spending Easter with family this year which we seldom get to do, so I’m sure the whole day will be laden with sweets. Hershey’s Cookie and Cream chocolate is a favorite of the kids though.
bluecottonmemory says
Chocolate bunnies, peeps, jelly bellies, marshmellow eggs in dark chocolate, Cadberry eggs!. We do a family basket for the older boys, but for the 2 little ones, they’ll have a basket with candy – and I found some pencils made from branches that have different color “led” in them. That’s for my artist:)
Last Minute Mel says
Love the bunny tray and healthy snacks…I am always trying to cut down on the Easter candy, too!!!
Sugary Flower says
My daughter would Not Be Amused if she didn’t get any chocolate for Easter! But she will be getting a new cutlery set too (with pictures of ducks on – she adores ducks, and they’re kind of Eastery, right?), along with her little chocolate eggs & chickens.
Rach @ This Italian Family says
What a good idea! No kiddos here, but we’ll probably be filling our doggie’s Easter basket with something delicious for him. 😉
Coralie Cederna Johnson says
My grandkids love Annie’s crackers too! Enjoy the goodies and have a beautiful Easter!

Awesome idea! I love the plastic eggs inside the deviled egg tray! The tray and eggs make the natural treats all the more appealing! Deb @ LivingMontessoriNow.com
