If we visited them in their unspecified country, they would probably think we were geeky Americans. I sure they wouldnโt think we were displaying a new American sandal trends. With the advent of the internet people can now see in a split second what the American toddler set is wearing this summer.
Why does he have socks on with his sandals? He has them on to prevent his feet from having contact with grass. JDaniel has topical allergies that can give him an extremely itchy rash on his feet and legs in the spring and summer.
Some people may look at his feet and think we have missed the summer sandal fashion boat. I look at his feet and think they are protected and itch free.
Lisa @ Two Bears Farm says
Luckily, he’s at that age where kids wear goofy stuff all the time. The other day Cort came in wearing hand knit winter mittens – on his feet. He wore them all day too, even though it was 98* outside. I figure it gives them character ๐
Alison@Mama Wants This says
I love your take on the prompt! I think it’s adorable on a toddler – not so much on an adult ๐
pegbur7 says
I;m amazed that does that trick. I would never have thought of that! At least he still gets to wear sandals. And if you buy him toe socks he could still wear flip flops!

Grumpy Grateful Mom says
Itch-free definitely trumps fashion. And I think those feet are still quite cute. ๐
Bankerchick says
Stopping by from Mama Kat’s. I think he has very fashionable feet. My SIL is european and he wears socks with birkenstocks sometimes, he is really a geek but not for the socks, for the science he does!
Elena says
I think the sock-sandal look is good on a toddler! What a bummer about the allergy – my friends older brother had that and I remember in the middle of summer he had to wear sweats to cut the lawn. Poor little guy!
Jessica says
At least he looks cute while he breaks the fashion rule, plus we don’t want him to get rashes.
Adventures as a Small Town Mom says
That stinks about his allergies – maybe socks with sandals will become the latest fashion craze!
Nichole says
I think he’s super cute no matter what he has on his feet!
The lovely thing is people probably just assume that he insisted on dressing himself! ๐
Cathy says
Luckily he’s a little guy and everybody will just judge his parents instead of him for his fashion faux pas. Kids can get away with so much! ๐
Cindy Adkins says
Oh, I love this pic–and he is adorable!! The funny thing is that socks and sandals are totally “in” on college campuses…so I guess he is headed for higher learning!!!

At his age, he can definitely get away with it! Heck, my 3-year-old wore snowboots (with his shorts) yesterday, and no one seemed to bat an eye. They just figure it’s kids being kids. ๐
Natalie says
Hey he’s gotta do what he’s gotta do! Keep rockin’ those socks JDaniel!
Rach (DonutsMama) says
You gotta do what you gotta do. Who cares about the rules anyway! And those little feet look adorable!
hilljean says
I think that’s a perfectly good reason to wear socks with sandals! Besides, cute kids can get away with anything.
Lady Jennie says
I saw your tweet and started to giggle. My French husband tries to wear socks with his sandals, but his brother said that people who wear socks under their sandals are “the dangerous kind.”
Elle Belles Bows says
I think it looks great! Plus itch free is always a bonus!
Happy Summer!

Diane says
Cute little toddlers and kids can wear just about anything and still look adorable!
Kim says
For some reason, socks with sandals have received a bad rap! But I swear I’ve seen so many people wearing them, including teenagers, so maybe a new trend is forming. Or maybe Alaskans are just tacky?
Rachel says
haha! I love the socks in the shoes! Adorable! I still wear socks in my sandals, usually in the winter months, but it’s cool to be geeky, sometimes ๐
Making It Work Mom says
Oh he is adorable. And guess what luckily children don’t really have fashion rules. As long as he is healthy and happy I think he looks good.
Liz says
I can see why your husband would tease, but whatever is best for JDaniel. ๐
Tammy says
There is a commercial up here in the NW about a guy who is called “Sandals and Sock Guy”…we see that alot up here…lol!
The Blue Zoo says
Aw, its cute on him! Not on old guys, but he is totally rockin the look. =)
Little Wonders' Days says
Cute little guy. Sorry he has such a bad allergy though!
โโMumsy says
Whatever made him feel comfortable, go for it! Those socks with sandals look perfectly fine with me.

My daughter does it on occasion – just beacause she wants to!

Good for you, I say…and for him. ๐

I think it’s a good solution! My girls like to wear socks with their sandals. I say go for it!

Geeky feet! I love it! We’ve got a bit of that going on here too. ๐

I have 2 kids that wear socks with sandals sometimes. One of them is 2 yo, and one of them *gasp* is 7! I think it is cute, cute on a toddler – not so much on a 7 yo girl. LOL
May says
There is something about the way he is standing in this photo that looks as though he is about to jump or dance. I see that as happy feet. And if he has happy feet, the look can’t be all bad!
~ Noelle says
i think that the funkier the socks, the cooler it looks!!!!
oh how i would love to see toe socks with them!!!
EmmaPeel says
If socks help then that’s the way to go. I know people do wear socks with sandals for whatever reasons and on a child I think it looks cute
