We seem to be having major rainstorms every other day here in South Carolina. We’ve see wind and we’ve seen rain. We’ve heard thunder and seen lightning . There have also been rainbows.
Some storms have been strong enough to break limbs off the birch trees in the backyard. This limb cracked in an earlier storm and then fell down completely in one two weeks ago.
I decided to create muffin tin in memorial the summer storms.
The tin contains a rice cake cloud with Alouette’s new Light Spinach Artichoke Soft Cheese ( I will be reviewing it later this week.), chicken nugget lightning bolts, blueberry balls of hail, catsup to dip, broken trees tops of broccoli and cauliflower, and playdough looking rainbow cookies.
The rainbow cookies are loosely based on Red Ted’s Rainbow Cookie recipe. I tried to take a short cut by using cookie dough from a mix. It was way too sticky and looked like playdough when I added flour to the dough. I really should have used her recipe and made them from scratch. JDaniel loved them, but they would have been better without the short cut. If you want to see them as they should have looked, please check out her link above.
I am still looking for recipe ideas to feature on Muffin Tin Monday. I am calling this series Serving Lunch with JDaniel4’s Mom. Just leave me a comment on this post or an upcoming Muffin Tin Monday post with a link to a recipe you think I should get JDaniel to try a muffin tin. If I use your recipe, I will mention your blog in the post it appears in along with a link back to it
What has the weather been like where you live?

We’ve had the storms here too. One day we lost electricity for the day. Another we had our driveway wash out. Paul had to fix it with the tractor – almost all of our gravel washed out and we’re going to have to have a load brought it. Luckily, our logger and neighbor offered to pay for it, because it’s actually because of them (well, and the storms) that it happened.
I like the blueberry hail!

It has been storming here too, but this week is supposed to be nicer. You have such creative ideas for JDaniel’s lunches…I love the “cloud” and broken “trees” and lightning shaped chicken nuggets.

The last few days it has been hot and humid…and has needed to rain! UGH!

Gha, I would love to have a real thunderstorm for a change. It’s hot, humid and sweaty here.
I guess I need to copy the muffin tin idea for my tot, I’m seriously running out of ideas for him. He’s eating, but wants always same old same old. Sigh. Healthy but boring. Maybe he’s jumping on the creative train with me. I’m allowed to hope, right?

What a cute idea to do one based on the storms. We get them occasionally around here.

We had terrible storms last week – downpours on Thursday which made getting home a nightmare, and on Friday we got 5 inches of rain. Thunder and lightning both days. In other words? It was interesting. 🙂

I love it! A memorial to rain storms – and you can eat it! We lost a tree 2 weeks ago (the week of The Big Move).
Thanks for inviting me to guest-post. It was an awesome experience. I have linked back to you from my post today:) Have a blessed week!

That is such a cute idea!

We’ve had some weird weather here too! In the last 3 weeks there have been at least 3 hailstorms. I’m liking all the rain and the green grass I know have, but I could do without the hail.

Yes the storms have been crazy. And if we don’t receive the short rain, we can see it in the distance!
Love the muffin tin idea. Need to try with my almost 4 yr old.

Rain, Rain, and more Rain… so much so that our basement has been leaking a bit and causing us more havoc then we’d like. I’m truly just hoping to have summer at some point. Weather’s been weird so far!

Chicken nugget lightning bolts? I didn’t know such a food existed!

what a cute idea for Muffin Tin Monday. I am horrible at coming up with food ideas, so I’ll be interested in following it to hopefully get my 3 year old to try some new foods!

Its been HOT! So hot I think I’m in another state. The beginning of the season we were having so many storms. So bad that I’m paranoid now. They seem to be so violent now. The winds are very strong too.

Muffin tin makings look fun especially on a stormy day. You can make all kinds of variations which is super! Love your 3 trunk tree too.
