When you are doing yard work, you need to right set of tools. It is only through the vast experience you have working on your Cozy Coupe and watching your father do work on the house that you learn about the right tools to use. You will still need to bring your tools out of the garage and sort through them to make the right choice.

Once you have selected the needle nose pliers as the right tool, you have to get down low and get to work. The pliers will need to be aligned with the bottom of the weeds instead of the top. If you try to pull them from the top the pliers will slip of and the weed will remain.

You may even have to stand up slowly from your low squat to give yourself some leverage. Your arms and legs working together can help you yank the weed out by its roots.

There are other times when you have to wretch the pliers into the dirt to loosen the weed from it. It requires that the pliers are dragged in a circle to create a moat around the weed.

When a really tough weed is loosen and deposited in the pail your father has given you, you may choose to celebrate by taking a clump of dirt over to your worms in their compost box. They will probably want to celebrate youy achievement with you.
congrats on even trying to conquer the weeds — my boys each pulled up about one out of the walkway before collapsing in boredom in to the grass. I like to tell myself that summer is almost over (is it?) and the weeds will die naturally. I guess I’m a naturalist.
Sorry you though I hadn’t blogged in three weeks! Blogging keeps me sane, so that would put me in bed with the flu if I couldn’t blog. My issue is that my followers sometimes just disappear! Or other gadgets are just blank?
Those needle nose pliers are handy things to have around, but I never thought of using them for weed pullers! You’ve got a great little helper there that appears to know how to use them.
Hahah, super cute! Love it.

That is a boy after my own heart!
ha!
i know broxton and jdaniel would have a great time
Bless his little heart! Your pictures are precious! I would be lost without my needlenose pliers.
I hope you will take the time to visit one of the sites on my sidebars and leave a comment.
See you in ten days!!
Very cute! I think JDaniel might like to help me with a few of my weeds. :))
so cute!
So cute!
What a little helper. He’s just so intent on his work.
Gosh I never knew there was such a tool for weeding. If I had known, I wouldn’t have hated weeding so much the last time I had a garden.
You have the cutest helper ever!
I love my needle nose pliers but I don’t do weeds. Charlie has no interest in helping with yardwork of any sort but he does enjoy playing with tools.
visiting from SITS
It just goes to show something I’ve always said, “There’s more than one way to do every job!”
Kah-yute!
Weeding is hard work, but someone’s gotta do it.
Anybody who is willing to share in the job of weeding is a treasure! Yippee for JDaniel and his needle nose pliers!
So cute. I love how clever they can be with different tools!

Love it! So glad the worms got to celebrate too. 🙂
He will be a master gardener!
What a wonderful idea and a great post! He is so adorable! He looks like the little boy I painted earlier at the beach. http://www.etsy.com/listing/67875425/boy-into-the-surf-art-limited-ed
Thanks for your visit and great description of my newest painting!
This looks like something I’d see at my house! And those worms are just the icing on the cake! 🙂
Too cute! Who knew I’d been using the wrong tools on those pesky weeds all this time. That must explain why they keep coming back! 😉
that’s nice ! my son learned to use garden tools from his girlfriend when they had a garden !
With us he only used the garden to play !
I have to admit that both of us are not interested at all in garden work either, lol !
What an adorable boy! He can come and weed with my son anytime…
I am just howling with laughter here. What a totally perfectly niftily (N word – ha!) adorable post.
I have the biggest grin on my face here…on a day like today this post was a perfect gift!
Thank you!
A+
That is so cute. Looks like jDaniel4 is totally into what he’s doing. I love all the photos!
I’m just envious of your soil. Soil in AZ NEVER looks like that. Ever.
Glad you found the right tools, but the best part is definitely your cute little helper!
Is he looking for more work this summer? I have weeds and needle noses pliers, but no little boy. How much does he charge?
Hee Hee – this is so cute! You must turn this into an instruction manual for 4-year-olds!
How great … I love the concentration! It’s so Montessori-like to allow JDaniel4 to use a real pair of pliers. By encouraging his interest, hopefully you’ll have a good helper around the yard for years to come! Deb @ LivingMontessoriNow.com
He’s brilliant! I’ve never thought of that. And they would work great. I may have to try them….
Too cute! My kids aren’t much help with weeds anymore. When they were little it was fun though!
Oh my goodness, you have the cutest helper! Bravo to you for taking on the weeds. We just keep the grass short so they’re not noticeable! My girls would love a chance to help out, it may just be something to add to the summer to-do list. Thanks!
And thanks for the visit, come back!

I gave up on my weeds, but after seeing this, maybe I’ll give it another try – thanks!
JDaniel is into the zen of gardening, I see! Nice to have a dad show him the right tool to use. And your needle-hosed pliers make a perfect N story. 🙂
My favorite part? The celebratory dirt clump. I miss that age…where dirt is fun in and of itself. *sigh*
What a sweet post. He is quite the liitl worker.
I’ve never thought of using pliers to pull weeds! Way to be creative!! 🙂
Love that he is taking after his daddy with his tools. He’s on his way to being a DIYer!

That is so cute! I’ll be sure to pass these tips onto my own little explorer.
So cute!
He is so cute 🙂 Needle nose pliers to pull out weeds….genius!
