JDaniel starts preschool tomorrow! I thought a Back to School Muffin Tin would be a perfect way to celebrate.
His tin has cheese bus with mini Oreo tires and Chex windows on crackers. There is also a Rice Krispy treats apple with a grape leaf. Finally there are tiny carrot sticks shaped into numbers on a slice of turkey and a cupcake tin of grapes.

While I would love to take credit for all ideas in this tin, I can’t. The apple recipe came from a wonderful blog called Gourmet Mom on The Go.

What special things to you serve to celebrate the first day of school?

Such a cute idea! My son would go crazy for the cheese school bus with oreos!
Oh my goodness..what a cute idea! He is going to be the coolest kid there! Best of luck to him today! Hope he has a great first day!
We would often have a special unique or favorite snack or meal on a back to school day. No specifics come to mind since my daughter has almost finished graduate school! LOL!

This is a response to soccer – I couldn’t figure out how to respond – so I’m putting it here (don’t need to win anything – just wanting to join the dialogue: I think while they learn to share equipment, they also learn there are moments it is o.k. not to share – because, after all, they do have to take the soccer ball away from the opposing team. Sports teaches Ameriican capitalsm, not socialism:)It teaches that not everybody is the same, not at the same level of skill or leadership or self-control, but that through hard work and determination you can reach your dream. You work, do your best, invest what you profit, team work with individuality, and as you grow in skill, you reach around and teach others how to achieve to do their best. Yep! Sports can teach all that!
This is such an adorable back to school lunch! I love it!
I love it! Your school bus is the cutest!!!
stoping over from Muffin Tin Mondays.
The whole lunch turned out so fun and your theme worked together perfectly! I so love the apple!
Love the school bus. Will JDaniel be riding the bus to preschool?
now that is just the cutest one yet…
i think… 🙂
Adorable! I don’t have any back-to-school traditions yet since my oldest is just starting. Maybe I need to make the alphabet & number snacks!
We’ll be doing a back to school theme soon. My Little Bug starts on September 13th – a Tuesday. So the 12th will definitely be a back to school (or going to school for the first time) lunch!
