I have read everyone’s wonderful Back to School Traditions posts and thought I would share what we did for JDaniel’s first day. If you haven’t had a chance to share your back to school traditions or first day of school pictures, the link up will stay open until September 8th.
Labeling Clothes
Before school started we labeled all of JDaniel’s things for preschool using Mabel Labels. I met some of the Mabel Label’s ladies at the Type A Conference and they offered to make JDaniel a set of labels for school. I really love them. Some are designed to go clothes, some of shoes, and others on everything else.
Back to School Breakfast
We started the day with blueberry pancakes I made the night before and reheated. I was worried things would get to hectic in the morning so, I went ahead and made them early.
He was able to share a few things between bites of pizza. He loved recess and snack. The dump trucks and robot in class were a hit too. I was also informed that he didn’t need his worry rock. He said that he won’t need it this year. He just loves it there.

We have that monkey plate too.
Sounds like a great start. We have also loved our Mabels Labels that we got at Type A. The boys are so proud to have their names on their things.

Now that I’m helping the 2nd grade teacher at the school where Ben goes. I thought I would take my camera ~ ask Mrs. Wittenburg which children are allowed to have their pictures taken and take their pictures ahead of time sitting at their desks, standing next to the teacher, playing on the playground things like this. Make a small book for them and when it’s their birthday have it all ready to send home with them. I always wanted pictures of my children at school and thought I would embarrass them or I would be in the way.
I love the ideas you have especially the Mabel Labels.. I’m going to check that one out… Thanks~!
Have a Tiggeriffic Day~! ta ta for now from Iowa:)annieptigger@aol.com

Aww, looks like JDaniel had a good first day 🙂 I have to pick up some of those labels since a lot of E’s clothes are unmarked. She has too much clothing too which is why it’s really easy to lose track of what she has…
I love that backpack on him too! It’s so big on him 🙂

I love when kids had huge backpacks … they look like they are going to tip over. All the meals look so yummy. And I need some of those labels!!!
Visiting from Mama Kats.

I am impressed with all the labeling. I’m definitely not Type A and struggle with organization!
He is too cute with that big ol’ backpack! 🙂

We love our Mable’s Labels too! Only #1 has apparently aged out of them as he informed me that he would not be carrying anything with a name sticker in the shape of a rocket on it. Fortunately we have some plain ones that he’s not entirely opposed to. I just feel better if things are labeled appropriately! Gald your guy had a great day!
Kathleen says
What a great day, despite the photos you couldn’t get. 🙂
I love how his and my son’s backpacks just overwhelm their bodies! Glad to hear he’s enjoying school so far.
