I am so blessed to have the Type A Conference held so close to where I live. It was took me less than two hours to get to Charlotte, North Carolina or conference central.
This was my third year at the conference and it was probably the best conference for me.
Why?
Volunteering
I got to volunteer at the registration table and as a badge checker for a party and breakfast.
Fact:
If you volunteer, you get to meet a lot of new people. You are forced to say awake longer at night, attend a party or two, and interact with people you don’t know.
I am not a party girl, but I did go to them and met some amazing people.
Heather Solos’ Bootcamp Sesssion
Every link should have SEO words not click here or too many details.
Fact:
A cupcake recipe link back should be recipe for cupcakes and not ooey gooey chocolate cupcakes. It is broader and will capture Google searches for recipes for all cupcakes and not just the ooey gooey kind.
Amy Lupold Bair’s Time Management Session
Set out a clear list of things you have to do and things you want to do each day.
Fact:
We try to multitask to complete a whole list of things and end up frustrated at the end of the day.
Lynette Young’s Google+ Session
Google+ is a great place to build a knowledge footprint.
Fact:
100% of your followers see you content. They don’t see all of it easily on other platforms.
Google+ places post into searches faster.
Fact: If you have a Blogger blog, it goes in faster than WordPress blogs.
Your Google+ page needs to be public
Fact:
If it isn’t public people can’t see your amazing posts and follow you.
Melanie Nelson’s Facebook Session
Set measureable goals for growing your facebook presence.
Fact:Deciding on a daily or weekly # of posts shared, # of comments, and # of shares given to you or to others will help you grow on Facebook.
Posting just text on Facebook won’t draw readers to your posting.
Fact:
Placing a picture or video on your Facebook post carries more weight than just posting text.
There is a one hour decay rate for things you post on Facebook.
Fact:
Knowing the best time for you to post is important.
There are several great ways to get readers to respond.
Fact:
You can ask them about themselves, ask readers to click “Like” to respond to a statement, ask yes or no questions. If you ask yes or no questions, ask why they chose that answer.
Adam Keats and Holly Hamann’s Beyond Reviews and Giveaways – Blogger Outreach with ROI for Everyone Session
Understand the objective of a campaign or blog project.
Fact:
Find out for the contact you are working with what the single most important things are.
Building and Maintaining Relationships with pr contacts and project managers is important
Fact:
They will know if you are just staying in contact to just get another project or to get to know them as well as their agencies better. They tend to work with people that they know will get the job done and want to work with them.
I could go on and on about things that I learned. This is just a few things I thought you might want to know about too.

Love the name of this conference…
=)
You would have loved the conference!
Love the advice on not using “click here” or long phrases for links. I will use SEO links immediately! Thanks! Sounds like that was a great conference.
I have to go back and change it on some of my older posts.
Great recaps! I wish I could’ve stayed for the whole Facebook session – it was so good!
I really should have stayed to the end. The presenter was awesome!
Thanks for the recaps. I just started with Google+, I need to learn more about it.
Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing ๐ Sounds like you had fun!
Sounds like it was a great conference. I’m so glad you’ve shared some of these important facts.
How fun! Thanks for sharing with the class…
The tip that resonated the most with me was “We try to multitask to complete a whole list of things and end up frustrated at the end of the day.”
{Melinda} Thank you so much for sharing the wealth! I’ve found that True/False and Fill in the Blanks garner the most response on FB.
I’m going to the She Speaks conference in Concord, NC next month. Love going to conferences … they are so energizing!
I bet you will have a great time. I can’t wait to hear about what you have learned!
We totally went to different sessions! ๐
I am so glad we got to spend some time together. Maybe next year we’ll actually have a longer and more in-depth chat! So glad you were there again!!
Wow! Thanks for sharing all of that. There is always so much to take away from these blog conferences. Things are always changing and it is hard to keep up with it all. Sharing the knowledge helps us all get there.
So awesome that you were a volunteer too! I would love to do that!
Thanks, I had planned on registering for this myself, just did not work out this year!
Thank you for sharing your experience, I agree that volunteering IS a fabulous way to meet people.

Thanks for the info:)
This is a conference I would like to go to some day…
What a fun time- and GREAT info! Just curious, what does Facebook having a 1 hour decay time mean? That after 1 hour- people dont see it anymore?
Thanks for the tips!
What a great post and that is a FACT
{Kathy} I will be changing our Facebook statuses to include pictures ASAP! Thank you. We did this at first, but then after scheduling them, they dropped like hot potatoes.
Thanks for sharing! I have a friend who went, and it sounded great! I might have to go next year. I’m visiting my from SITS, by the way. ๐
Thank you for this information! It will be extremely helpful. ๐
Sounds like a lot of great info!

conferences.. interesting!
Sandy
What an interesting conference that must have been!
You recapped that beautifully and I think you must have had a terrific time! I think that conference would have been very interesting. Thanks for the share! Have a beautiful weekend.
great tips! the fb “life” of a post certainly makes sense, now that you mention it!
sounds like a fun and informative conference!
This sounds like a conference I’d like to go to next year. These are all great tips. Thanks for sharing!
Not too savvy about some of these things! What do you mean about SEO? and instead of not using “click her” what should be used?
Oh and what about this:
There is a one hour decay rate for things you post on Facebook. (What does it mean “one hour decay rate”?)
Fact:
Knowing the best time for you to post is important. (When is the best time? Is there an actual time that works best?)
Wow! I know I would have learned oodles and oodles of info at a conference such as this! Thank you for sharing a recap of what you learned!
Blessings & Aloha!
These are great tips. Thank you for sharing. I still have not gotten on the G+ thing. I can feel so overwhelmed by all the social media and wanting my family to still be the priority!
I agree totally with Erika. Maybe after my life settles down in a couple of months, I can concentrate on the G+ thing.
Thank you for posting! I have yet to go to a bloggers conference but really want to. I am having trouble with the Google+ public display, but may get there in time. I just feel so vulnerable there. Also interesting stuff about the FB items. I am getting my feet wet there.
I’ve heard that Type-A was a great conference. I’m thinking about attending one year.
Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful tips.
Stopping by from SITS. Have a great weekend.

I’m glad to attend vicariously through you.
