Then he announced that he wanted to be Chet the mouse from the same show. I decided that I could pull together a mostly homemade Halloween costume that would look like Chet. I told him I would start putting together the costume when it got closer to October.
Here is what we have for the homemade Halloween costume so far:
I bought JDaniel a fuzzy gray sweatsuit and a gray turtleneck as the base of his costume. When he tried it on, the pants looked a little short. I will have to exchange them at Walmart for the next size up. I also found a really cute mask on Amazon that has a squeaker in the nose.
The base of the costume isn’t homemade, but the rest of the costume will be. I need to make JDaniel a tail, some mice hands, and a trick or treat bag.
If you decide to create a post on creating your homemade costume or already have, please link your post below I would love to see what you have created. I am starting a homemade costume Pinterest board if you link your post below I will add it to my board.

How cute! Now you have to keep him focused and from wanting to be something else haha! We still don’t know what we’re doing for Halloween…

that’s such a cute mouse! I’m not very creative when it comes to costumes. My kids always want to be Star wars and my daughter is going to be a princess. I gave in and just bought the costumes this year.

adorable mouse! My son wants to be Bolt and oddly enough disney doesn’t have a costume paired with I can’t find a white dog costume. Anyway, we will see what happens.

I don’t think I ever made my kids’ costumes…we’ve inherited many from older cousins over the years. But this year my 6YO wants to be a skeleton, and I see someone linked that up! I may try to make it!

I used white adhesive contact paper to cut bones to put on a black sweat suit. We used a white stocking cap for a hat and white and black face paint to finish the face. You could add black or white gloves for fingers, too. It was pretty simple and peeled right off the next day.

So cute! I haven’t done anything yet but I will … we’re in the planning stages. Can I link up something from last year?

That is so cute! We make them every year but I always wait until the last minute and then end up spending just as much money as I would have on a costume. 🙁

How fun. I remember my mom making my costumes when I was younger. I might have to do this for my kids since Halloween isn’t celebrated here.
The Preppy Girl in Pink says
So much fun! I love helping my girls figure out what they want to be. Sometimes we buy. Sometimes my mom makes them and sometimes it is a combo of things store bought and homemade like JDaniel’s mouse.
I love the idea of his bag being a block of cheese!
Raising a Happy Child says
This is very cute! Anna wants to be a ghost for Halloween, and my husband has volunteered to make a costume. I am curious to see how it will turn out.

That’s a lovel costume. I would say a wiry tail will look best but I guess it depends if he has to sit down.
Thanks for linking to the sunday showcase.
