The lady giving us the farm tour said to search for just the right pumpkin for you. When you found it, you were to stand by it with your hand up and someone would come across the pumpkin patch and cut it off the vine for you.
Searching the Pumpkin Patch

More and more of the class picked their pumpkins, raised their hand, had their pumpkin’s stem cut, and headed out of the field. Still there was one little boy who had to keep looking.
Despite my questioning whether it was possible to have passed the ideal pumpkin, he keep looking and looking.
“Are you looking for a small pumpkin or a large one?” I asked. He simply shrugged his shoulders and kept looking.

What did the perfect pumpkin look like? It is orange with green spots on it. It is on the large size of small pumpkins and it is really heavy. It was too heavy for a now tired from searching little boy to carry any further than the hay wagon we had to taken to the field on.

That is just so beautiful…a great activity for the class but i so love how he took his time finding the perfect pumpkin….gorgeous!
What a cutie! He has determination and he knows what he wants. That is a great quality in a person! You should be super proud of him.
That is just so sweet that he put so much effort and thought into his choice. What a cute little guy!
Well that looks like the perfect pumpkin!
Awww…that was so sweet…He did pick the perfect pumpkin! I love his choice!
How sweet! Can’t wait to take the kiddos this year.. one of my favorite things to do in the fall.

Such a cutie looking for the perfect pumpkin! We already bought six pumpkins-3 huge ones for carving, and 3 small ones for decorating, but we haven’t done it yet. I don’t want rotting pumpkins sitting around until Halloween 😀
WHAT A NICE DAY – WE WILL BE GOING TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH TOMORROW FOR A HOMESCHOOL FIELD TRIP – I WILL COME BACK AND LINK UP!
That is such a great pumpkin! We just went and had a blast!
That looks like a great pick!
Its hard to be sure you picked the RIGHT one!
It’s hard to get just that right one!!
I like the one he did get with the green specks in it.
We still have to go find our pumpkin. I’m guessing my son will want to look at all of his options before making a decision. 🙂
Going to the pumpkin patch must be SO much fun!! We just go to the supermarket.. sigh.
What a sweet story. I’m glad he found a winner at last!
=)
How cute is that????
Oh, we only dream of doing that here in Texas. What a wonderful outing for the kids. Sweet sweet post.
Too cute! So glad he found the perfect pumpkin.
It is a beautiful pumpkin!
How cute!
I love that he found his perfect pumpkin! 🙂
It’s funny how some kids just want to be one of the first and be done with it and others just take their time reaching a decision. I think that’s good. He probably won’t make any impulse decisions when he’s older.
That pumpkin is always going to be a special memory for him. Glad he took the time to find the perfect pumpkin!
My youngest had her field trip to the pumpkin patch today! She loved it!
My Ash always takes a long time to pick her pumpkin. Somehow she always ends up with more than one too. 😉
It’s very important to find just the right pumpkin! I’m going with my daughter and grandson on his class field trip to the pumpkin patch tomorrow. So fun!
Very funny, they look happy picking pumpkins.
Agree- they look so happy!
Have a great weekend!

having little children in our lives gives us the opportunity to experience a little bit of childhhood again.
seeing your little guy in the pumpkin patch made be remember my two kids’ times picking the perfect pumpkins!
thanks for evoking a very sweet memory.
Oh I just loved this story!!!! 🙂
I love that there are rules for holding pumpkins. Soooo cute. I remember my kids being picky about their pumpkins too.
He knew the one he wanted would be there… he just had to find it 🙂
I work with children, and I can imagine another Daniel, who takes a long time to choose. Thanks for visiting.
It’s like the little boy in the Glum Pumpkin!
We went pumpkin picking with our boys for the first time this year and they took so much care in selecting just the right pumpkin. I loved how they searched and searched until the found the one that was just right for them. Kids always know.
Such a process finding that perfect pumpkin! What a lovely day for pumpkin picking! Your photos are terrific. Have a beautiful weekend.
That’s nice for the kids ! Last year I saw kids doing the same here in a pumpkin field, but this year there are only very few due to the strange weather we had this “summer”. I will have the visit of my two year old grandson today, I don’t see him so often only through Skype, but then I play with him. What a great invention !
Silly mommy, you can’t rush finding the perfect pumpkin. Of course it is going to be the very last pumpkin in the whole field.
Awww so sweet! I love that he took his time and found the pumpkin that was perfect for him. I love watching little ones pick out pumpkins. My daughter took quite a while picking out hers this year too!
I love this! I love that he took his time and truly found the perfect one for him! 🙂
Oh. Sweet, sweet, sweet.
We should never, ever, ever rush finding our perfect pumpkin!
I absolutely loVed this post!
With a capital V.
