Veteran’s Day Activities
Prayer
You can offer prayers of thanks or supplication for those who have served. I bet they would be thrilled to know that they are being remembered. Simple prayers for their health, families and basic needs can be said by children young and old.
Read Books that Relate to Memorial Day
I shared the book The Poppy Lady: Moina Belle Michael and Her Tribute to Veterans yesterday. It is a wonderful book about a lovely lady who wanted those who served to remember. She lobbied hard to get the poppy to be a universal symbol for remembering Veterans.
Small flags planted in your front yard will remind those who drive your house that there is a special day that is being remembered. The flags may even jog people’s memories as to what holiday they are up for.
Send a Note to a Veteran
If you don’t have a family member that you can send a note to, you can check with people in your church or local retirement homes. There are probably a number of veterans that live near you that would love to get a note or card.
Here are some organizations that will get your notes to veterans:

These are great tips. We haven’t talked much about the veterans from our family. I was waiting until the boys were just a bit older. But now might be a good time too.

Thank you for the reminder that there is no school on Monday and that Scarlet doesn’t know why. Right now, Cassidy is explaining to her about the bravery of people who serve our country. She asked, “Do they ever save people? Do they kill monsters?”

This is fantastic! We like to visit a local cemetery and clean the headstones for all the men and women that have served. And, we put out many flags on my grandfather’s headstone. I’ll be sharing this post.

You know, you just gave me an idea to stop by our neighbors (a husband in the family is a Vietnam Vet) with a note of thanks. Great and timely post to give people some time to prepare 🙂

Thank you so much for linking this up with the Hearts for Home Blog Hop. This touched my heart, as my husband is a veteran and just recently retired after 25+ years in the Army. I am featuring you this week as one of my favorites. Please stop by and grab an “I’ve been featured” button. 🙂
