Muffin tins are a great tool for working on math skills. I have shared several different muffin tin math number game like Space Math- Moon and Star Numbers. Each of them used the cups inside the muffin tin. Today’s Dinosaur Activities for Kids Exploring Number activity uses the outside of a muffin tin.
Dinosaur Activities for Kids
Supplies
- Dinosaur Feet Muffin Tin Counting Numbers
- Muffin Tin
- Dice or Number Cards
- Toy Dinosaurs
You will need to turn a muffin tin over so its front is face down.
Activity One- Counting to Ten
You will need to place the dinosaur numbers randomly on the muffin cups. You can tape the numbers down if you like.
Then your children will need to select a dinosaur that they want to count on. Let them know the dinosaur will just need to be able to touch the muffin cup with one of its feet. It does not need to be able to stand on it.
Next, your children will hop them from one number to the next number in order. They will be counting from 1-10.
Activity Two- Counting Backwards
The set up for this game is the same as it was for Counting to Ten.
Your children have their dinosaur touch the numbers in order as they count from 10 to 1.
Create a Path and Count
Your children will place the numbers in order to create a sequential path for their dinosaur to travel on. Then they will have their dinosaur walk the path.
