This week I have been sharing bear themed activities. The week started with a counting your blessing activity that use a bear claw math counting space. Then I shared a bear snack that kids can make filled with foods and objects mentioned in favorite bear books. Today I have shape activity for preschoolers to share with you.
Shape Activity for Preschoolers
Exploring the Printable
You will find that each of the bears on the shape printable I made is primarily made up of one shape. Your children would probably enjoy find out how many of that shape were used to create that bear. Then you could have the tell you the other shapes that used to make each bear.
Exploring the Shape of Objects
After having your children explore each bear, you can put a objects that are various shapes out for them to use. If you have wooden blocks, you could use those to for this activity. Invite your children to sort the objects by shape. (While some of the blocks may display more than one shape, you can have them focus on the shape the object has the most of.)
Then they can place the objects onto the shape bear that match. If a shape square get filled up, they can stack them up to make a tower.
Building on Knowledge
After completing each shape activity for preschoolers above, you can have your children create their own shape bear with crayons on paper or with construction paper shapes you can up out for them.
It will be fun to see what they come up with. Some may choose to feature a pentagon or trapezoid.
