These ten frame activities were designed to be used with a printable set of squirrel and acorn themed frames after reading the book Scaredy Squirrel. Scaredy Squirrel is a favorite of my son’s. It is also the Virtual Book Club book of the week.
The ten frame activities use each of the four ten frame printables. Some of them use the acorn number cards that are also available in the set. After looking over the activities, you will probably come up with even more ways to use them.

Exploring the Activities
Show the Number on the Card
Your children will need the large squirrel mat, the number cards, and acorns. They will start by picking up the top card in the stack. Then they will count out the correct number of acorns. Finally, they will place one acorn in each box in the frame.
Roll the Number and Show It
This activity needs an acorn or small squirrel frame pages cut in half, acorns, and a die. Your children will roll the die. Then they will count the number of acorns. Finally, they will place the acorns on the frame correctly.
Ten Frame Fill In
Your children will need the acorn printable that displays ten acorns. Your children will need to identify the number above each of the acorns. Then they will need to fill in the number of boxes in the frame that equals that number.
