Your children will have fun counting to ten while learning about coding an algorithm. This fun free printable features number words and groups of flowers that represent each of the numbers. Your children can connect the boxes displaying the numbers and the flowers with arrows. As they connect them in order, they will be building an algorithm.
The definition I use with young children for an algorithm is a series of steps needed to complete a task. By the time your children have connected each of the numbers words in order, they will have completed the task of counting to ten.
Getting Ready to Counting to Ten

You will need to print out a copy of the Counting to Ten Algorithm Coding Worksheet for each of your children. It was designed to be printed out on a black and white printer.
Next, you may want to read your children a book with a flower theme. The book The Tiny Seed would be perfect. It explores the lifecycle of a flower.
Beginning the Counting to Ten Activity
After reading your children the book The Tiny Seed, you will need to give each of your children a sharpened pencil. They could use traditional pencils or these fun Sprout plantable graphite pencils with seeds.
Next, you will need to have them locate the word start in the bottom left-hand corner of the printable. Then they will decide if they need to go up, down, left or right to get to the number one.
They will continue to move from one number to next by placing arrows in the boxes. The goal is to connect all boxes from the start box to the box featuring the number ten. Your children may discover more than one way to connect some of the numbers. You will want to encourage them to place one arrow in each box. They will also want to pick the shortest route from one number to the next.
You will notice my son drew a few of his arrows on top of the pictures. You can decide if that is okay or if you want your children to draw them under or beside the pictures.
