The Very Hungry Caterpillar was one of my son’s favorite books when he was little. It is probably a favorite at your house too! The sequencing activities I have to share with you today are based on the book. Your children will be invited to place each of the sequencing sets in the right order. They can place the cards in slots in the pool noodle caterpillar sections or near them.

If your children have read the book Learning Resources Pretend & Play, Play Money for Kids, Counting, Math, Currency, 150 Pieces, Ages 3+, you will want to share it with them. It will help them understand why the pictures were selected for the activity and how they fit in the story.
Getting Ready for The Very Hungry Caterpillar Activities
The first thing you will need to do is download The Hungry Caterpillar Pool Noodle Sequencing Activities with Printables. Then you can decide which activity sets to print out on a color printer. Once you have them printed, you can cut them out.
Next, you will need to cut out one one-inch section out of a red pool noodle. You will need to add to wiggly eyes on one side of the pool noodle. Then you can addpurple pipe cleanersantennas to the top of the pool noodle. (We cut a pipe cleaner in half and folded each piece in half. Then we inserted them through slits we made in the top of the red pool noodle.)
Finally, you will need to cut out ten one-inch sections out of a green pool noodle. Then you will need to lay them down with the hole in the pool noodle faced up to cut a slit across the pool noodle. The slit will need to be deep enough to hold a sequencing card.
Pool Noodle Sequencing Activities
Your children can insert the sequencing cards in the slits you created in the pool noodles or lay them near each section of the pool noodle.
Counting From One to Six
Your children will need to sequence the cards in order. They will start with the food they ate on the first day. They will end with the food the caterpillar ate on its big eating day. (I only included six of the foods the caterpillar ate on its big eating day.)
The Days of the Week
Your children will need to place the days of the week sequencing cards in the right order. The cards run from Monday to Saturday. If you like, you can make a card for Sunday.
Counting Ordinal Numbers
Your children will need to place the foods the caterpillar ate on its feasting day in order. These cards feature the ordinal numbers.

First of all I would like to say wonderful blog!
I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing.
I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems
like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Kudos!

I love to start with taking the pictures for a post. They help me find the words for the post. They also tend to help me with insights I can share with my readers.
