There is just something about stacking cups up and knocking them. I think that is why it is one of those games that you find at festivals and parties. I recently created a cup stacking game for my son and his friends to play in our backyard. It is called “Falling Leaves”.
Why did I call the game “Falling Leaves”? Well, I designed a set of printable cup covers that have falling leaves on them. Colored leaves are such a sign of fall for me. I guess I could have gone out and bought cups with leaves on them. This just seemed easier to make covers for them. We already had the cups and we could decorate them in a short period of time.
JDaniel and I stacked the cups for this game on top of an old T.V. tray we found in our bonus room. You could use any small table or bookshelf to stack your cups on.
We used ping pong balls to throw at the cups. You could use a heavier ball if you like. The ping pong balls were heavy enough to send the cups flying for us. If you do want to try some other balls, you could try the following.
Types of Balls to Try
- Balls of paper
- Bouncy balls
- Wiffle balls
- Foam balls
- Stress balls
The cups were stacked in various ways to see if one pyramid or stack was easier to hit down then the other. We even tried one pyramid in front of the other. It was as much fun to build the stacks or cup pyramids as it was to know them down.
While you could play this game outside, playing it in the backyard made it even more fun.
Here are some other carnival games we have played:
If you make any of these festival or carnival games, please share it with me on Facebook.
