Goldilocks and the Three Bears Cup Stacking Cards

This set of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Cup Stacking Cards is fun to explore and a fun way to introduce children to cup stacking. Other sets, featuring more elaborate cup stacks, are available on my blog and in my TPT shop.

The stacks displayed on this set of cards are very simple. The set was designed to use with young children or children that appreciate smaller rather than elaborate stacks. Once children have mastered these, they may want to create elaborate stacks.

Getting the Goldilocks and the Three Bears Cup Stacking Cards

First, you will need to download the set.

Second, if you don’t have Acrobat Reader you will need to download it. The set is an Acrobat Reader PDF file.

Third, you will need to go to your download file and open the page.  You may be asked if you want the file to open after downloading it. If you are, you won’t have to hunt for it in your download file.

Finally, when you open the cards and decide which ones you want to print.

Getting the Cards Ready to Use

Exploring the Three Bears Cup Stacking Cards

While most children will look at the upside-down character or object and know it means the cup is upside down, others may be confused. You may need to have your children explain what the pictures are telling them to do with the cups on a card or two. Once they understand what the pictures are telling them to do, they will be able to complete cards on their own.

If they end up building structures that are the opposite of the card, you can decide if you want to correct them. It may be important to you that you build it just like the card. It may be important that they just practice cup stacking.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Number Puzzles

This set of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Number Puzzles offers three versions of every puzzle. One version is in black and white. The other versions are in color. One of those is a more detailed picture while the other has lots going on in the picture.

The puzzles focus on the following:

  • Counting 1 to 10
  • Counting back from 10 to 1.
  • Going from 10 to 100 by tens.
  • Skip Counting by 5’s
  • Skip Counting by 2’s

Deciding on the Goldilocks and the Three Bears Number Puzzles to Use

While the color versions of the puzzles are ready to use right after printing and laminating them. The black and white version will need to be colored. They could be colored by you or your children. Because the coloring isn’t done by the printer, they will be less expensive to print.

The reason there are two color version is that some children really don’t like detailed pictures. They prefer them to be less cluttered. Realizing that would be a need for some children I included a simple and more detailed puzzle.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Number Recognition Puzzles

Each puzzle in this set of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Number Recognition puzzles has three pieces. One piece displays a numeral. The second piece displays objects that are that number. The third piece displays ten frames with circle filling the featured number in its spaces.

There are black and white and color versions of each of the puzzles. The black and white version could be colored by your children after they are printed. It will really be up to you.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Money Activity

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Money Activity features coin counting cards. Each card displays a sentence describing what will be purchased. It also displays the object and a price tag. Children will be asked to place a collection of coins onto the card that equal that amount.

The cards are not self-checking. A display of coins that could be used is not displayed on the back of the card or an answer page. Why? That will be more than one combination of coins that could be used to purchase that items. Due to that fact working with an adult or another child would be benefical.  They will be able to recount the coins and make sure that they equal the required amount.

How to Explore the Goldilocks and the Three Bears Money Activity

Discussing the Coins

Sometimes children don’t remember what each coin is worth. It would be helpful to discuss each of the coins that they will use and how much it is worth.

Things to Discuss

  • Size of the Coin
  • Objects and words displayed on the front of the coin
  • Object and words displayed on the back of the coin.
  • Clues on the coin that tell its value or worth

Discussing the Money Card

Going over what each card says in words and number will be important. If your children are not strong readers, you can read the words on the card to them.

Some children may not need to have the coins and task explained to them. They may be able to identify the coins needed and place them on the cards. Checking their work will still be important. Reassuring them that they have done it well or need to double check their work is really important. They can check them with an adult or another child.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Patterning Strips

This free set of Goldilocks and the Three Bears Pattern Strips features characters and objects for the story. The set features colored strips rather than black and white. They will be great in a math center to review simple patterns. It would be great fun to use colored bear counters to copy the patterns on the cards. How to Explore the Goldilocks and the Three Bears Pattern Strips

Sometimes children don’t notice a pattern right away. It would be helpful to discuss the pattern that appears on each strip first. Once your children have gone over the patterns on each card you want them to work on, they can work on their own.

Some children may not need to have the patterns explained to them. They may be able to identify the patterns and replicate them on their own. It will still be important to check on their work. Reassuring them that they have done it well or need to double check their work is really important. If you can’t be with them when they work on the strips, maybe they could work with a partner.
