JDaniel is at the age when he knows what he should do and what he shouldn’t. He isn’t allowed into the street without holding an adult’s hands. So, he goes to the end of the driveway and hangs his toes off the driveway and into the street. You probably have seen your children do similar things. He glances to the side, he looks quickly to the right and to the left, and there is a deadening silence. These are all telltale signs that something is up at my house. I know of have years of “time outs” coming to both JDaniel and I. His will be time to reflect on his actions and mine will be whether this is the right battle to choose.

Sounds exactly like my son!!! He’s been doing that since he was about 6 months old, things like that. A little smart aleck, he is! Sometiems it is so cute though, I have to turn away to keep him from seeing me smile.
The first time “D” did something like that, it was in the hallway. We have the return air vent underneath the ac/heater. The screws were off of it because we are doing some remodeling and anyway, he kept taking the grate off (this was before he was walking) and trying to crawl underneath, where the return airvent was. So, when I went to screw it back in and secure it so that he couldn’t do that anymore, I told him not to touch the vent. So, the little stinker took my shoelace, looked at me with THAT look, and touched the vent!
Glad to know I’m not the only one. I love your blog!!!

Oh yes, kids will push the boundaries and test mommy.
I liked the “time out” perspective for both of you. Good stuff!
