Thanksgiving at the Tappletons’ by Eileen Spinelli reminds me of some the interesting things that can happen when you try to make a Thanksgiving dinner.
What could happen?
The turkey could slip out the door.
The bakery could be out of pies when you finally get in line.
The salad could be used to feed a pet.
The potatoes could be splattered all over the kitchen.
You could end up with a house filled with people expecting a meal.
They could end up being fed odd and ends from the kitchen.
That could be what happened at the Tappletons’.
This wonderful family of foxes learns through it all that family and not food is what is most important.
What did we do?
Crafts
We made two turkey crafts together. They ended up being so cute.
We have been so busy getting ready to fly to Arkansas to meet up with family. There hasn’t been a lot of time to explore books this week.

Love your turkeys especially the pipe cleaner one! I should read that book, it’s a message I need to be reminded of at this time of year. I want to focus on what’s important and then the anxiety of “what if…” creeps in. That’s why I love picture books, often they can remind us of the truth in very sweet and gentle ways 🙂
Lisa @ Flour Me With Love says
Thank you so much for the invite 🙂 I love the idea of combining stories and crafts together, it’s one of our favorite things to do too!

Your paper crafts reminded me when our kiddos were small, I would trace their tiny hands and they would draw a turkey face on the thumb and legs where their wrist is. It was a fun project! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!!!
