I sat quietly confused by what she had said. What I write about on this blog may shift over time and JDaniel may decided he doesn’t want me to write about him as much. He will grow up. He has already become a “big boy”. He informed he of that just yesterday. What won’t change it that I will always be his mom! I will always write with a mother’s heart, because that is one of my favorite parts of my heart to share.
I know she meant I am so much more than a mom, but the way she said it hit me wrong. Writing about motherhood is a gift that not all women get the opportunity to write about. Being JDaniel4’s Mom is one of my most favorite things to be.

Beautifully said!

I’m sure she meant well, but it does come across as meddling, and obviously we all have the right to choose whatever blog name suits us best!

I don’t think that the name of your blog is as important as the ‘experts’ make it out to be. You are the one that makes your blog what it is. I love that you embrace your title of mom – more women should.

Yes!
Mom is something I will always be proud of.
I wasn’t thinking of branding either when I chose my blog title — just that it was something I found myself saying a lot, and no matter how old they get, I hope they will always think of me as mommy.

Well said. I love this 🙂 I love being a MOMMY/MUMMY and that’s who I am.

I agree. First of all, it’s your blog so you can call it anything you want. Second of all, you will always be his mom…
don’t give it another thought, just keep writing and we’ll keep reading…

You have the ‘most important’ job that you’ll ever had ~ Society just doesn’t give enough recognition for being Mom ~ Let it go and enjoy and we enjoy reading your great blog ~ ^_^ Happy Mother’s Day by the way .

I love this. You know who you are. And that PR chick… whatever. People name their blogs whatever they want. Some blog names make zero sense- but yours does.

It is your blog, you name it what you want! What an odd thing for a PR lady to say! I am sure she was just trying to be helpful, but you will always be a mom regardless of what else you write about!

Once you have a child, you may do other things, you may develope new interests, your life may change in many ways BUT you will always be a mother. And frankly, whenever someone gives me the old line ‘just a mom’, well guess what? I chose to be a mother and I chose to stay home with my kids and I have never regretted one moment of that decision. Women will only be equal to men when women stop putting labels on other women. (obviously, this touched a nerve in me.)
Your blog is a lovely and joyful place that I come to to read about Daniel’s adventures and yours as his mom. It is a delightful blog and you have much to be proud of!

Once a mom always a mom. Just yesterday I was in the middle of spring cleaning…the house was torn apart, I was a hot mess, etc. My youngest son, who is in his early twenties, needed to borrow my car for the evening. I had to go to the store for some grocery items first. Was this a pain in the butt? Yep 🙂 but your kids are your kids and later on if you choose to blog about something else you can start a different blog ! 🙂
