By 4 o’clock we had tiny swirling flakes that covered our deck, sidewalk and the non-grassy areas of the yard. JDaniel was thrilled. He swept the snow on the deck rails into his hands that he used to create tiny snowballs to throw at me. I pushed some of the small layer of snow on the deck into my hands and tossed it at him. There wasn’t enough snow for a snowman or snow angel. It really ended up just being a dusting, but we sure had fun playing with it.
I loved watching him excitedly run and leap from patch of snow to patch of snow. Even a tiny bit of snow is exciting when you haven’t had any snow in over a year. We finally went into the house. We had cold fingers and saturated mittens. The snow continued to fall and we both kept our nose pressed up against the window to watch it. We wanted to enjoy its entrance into your world for as long as possible.
Thankfully we were all tucked into our house early on Tuesday afternoon. The roads here got really icy and stayed icy in shady spots for two days. Our little bit of snow would start to melt during the day and then refreeze at night. Parts of our sidewalk were still icy and snow on Thursday afternoon. We were out of school for two days and had a two-hour delay on Friday.

Today we got a foot of snow and I am so happy Scarlet got me outside in it. I brought my camera at first, which then rendered me unable to have a lot of fun for fear of getting it wet. So I brought it inside and then had fun in the winter wonderland. A snowman named Olaf, sledding, snow angels and more!

I’m sick of snow days. We’ve been out 5 days so far, and I’m not sure about tomorrow. Glad you guys enjoyed your days off!

I’m sure the snow in the area was a treat. I would have much preferred the snow to the huge ice storms I experienced when I was there. JDaniel looks so excited.

we were iced in – mississippi – but luckily we got home in time for him to see the last bit of snow before it melted.

JDaniel looks like he’s having a fun time! Kids and snow — what could be better!
It snowed this morning — rare for my part of Texas — and the outside kitties are hunkered down in the greenhouse and the shed! Occasional kitty prints leading to their food bowl, but their water bowl keeps freezing over!

How we prayed for “snow days!!” Poor Atlanta was in a horrible mess, though, after only 2 inches. Here in coastal Georgia, we rarely get snow. JDaniel is thrilled, I see! Great photos!!

Daniel looks so happy! Am surprised, you must live on a higher elevation – no snow around Costa Mesa. Maybe you can take him up to the mountains in Big Bear lake, where he can sled and make a snowman (when my kids were little we always made a trip in the weekend for that reason)..

Yay! I like! I’ve been playing a lot more in our snow this year, much good snow for making snowmen and sledding too!

I guess it’s all relative, isn’t it? We are supposed to get between a foot and a foot and a half between tonight and Monday! Someday you’ll have to bring JDaniel out here, he’d love all the snow!

Geez, I’d be more than happy to give the lil man some of our snow. We have more than enough. 🙂

How I wish this for Aarya! I am sure he would go ballistic if we ever see real snow 🙂 I have it in mind to go on a vacation in a few years time… where it snows and show it to him… he is only seen snow in picture books and TV

I am the same way…I get so excited when it snows. Tonight I went out for a little bit and we had small flurries…we may get some by Sunday! Crossing my fingers! 🙂

that is so strange, for a school to drop everything and tell everyone to go home. I always feel sorry for the parents (and the kids) who work. Not a lot of time to plan, in an hour. Our schools had 2 days off so far. It’s going to be a short summer for the kids! {:-D

It’s little surprises like this that make life great…
I love seeing the joy on children’s faces while they play in the snow!
