When you are creating or composing Valentines cards, why not choose one or two of the groups of people below to send a card to. Each of these eight groups of people would love to receive one of your Valentines cards.
Kids Could Give Valentines Cards To:
Veterans
There many not be time left to send them to soldiers overseas, but you could drop some cards of at your local veterans home or group. They would probably enjoy receiving thanks and card of remembrance on Valentine’s Day. My sister and her husband are veterans. I love to thank them all year around for their service.
Nursing Home Residents
Since my mom has lived in both an assisted living area and the nursing home area of her senior community, we have seen many people who don’t get visitors or mail. They would love to have someone remember them with a card. Those who don’t receive much from the outside world seem to find great joy in being given cards..
Neighbors
We have a number of neighbors that have been super sweet to us. You probably have some too. What fun it would be to place card in their mail box or tucked into their screen doors! It has just made us smile when a neighbor has done something like that for us.
Teachers
Most kids give their homeroom teacher and a specialist or two a card. Why not make a few extra cards for each of them. As the computer lab teacher I am not the first teacher that kids have come to mind. Those that have given me cards have really made my day.
Instructors or Coaches
My son isn’t playing a sport this winter, but he does go to vision therapy once a week. We will be giving his therapists cards. I bet your children have coaches, therapists, choir directors, or any number of other instructors. It would be great to remember them with Valentines cards.
Aunts, Uncles and Cousins
Your family may be like ours. We have some aunts, uncles and cousins we see only once a year. I think they would enjoy getting Valentines cards from their nieces, nephews and cousins. It would give the kids a chance to touch base with people that love them that they don’t get to see.
Community Helpers
There are all kinds of community helpers that you can give Valentines cards to. Here are a few that we have given cards to:
- Police Officers
- Fire Department Personnel
- Librarians
- Mail Delivery People
I am sure that there are dozen more that you can think off.
Church Volunteers and Staff
We happen to go to church and my son has two regular Sunday school teachers. Giving them Valentines cards is a opportunity to remember the time that they give to teach him every week. If your children know members of the church staff ( pastors, Sunday school director, secretaries), they may want to give them cards.

This is really beautiful. I know my daughter would love to make one for the town crossing guard who is SO awesome but had a concussion and was out of work for a month. She’s back now and wonderful.
