When the kindergartners at my school came to the computer lab last week, they worked on building an algorithm using numbers words. They had to come up with a way to connect the boxes numbers 1-10 with arrows. They were told there was more than one way to connect the boxes. The only rule was they could only put one arrow in each box. After they finished, I got thinking about the number words displayed on their coding worksheet. We used number words English. How fun would it be to use number words from other languages like French, Spanish, or Italian?
Tomorrow I will be sharing the version of numbers 1-10 coding worksheet I made in English. Today I am sharing an almost totally editable version of the 1-10 coding worksheet. You will see that the word name isn’t editable. The title area is an editable box. The start and each of the number spaces are also editable. You can put the word start and number words in any language that uses letters.
Getting Started with the Numbers 1-10 Worksheet
You will first need to download a copy of the Editable Counting to Ten Algorithm Coding Worksheet. The document you are downloading is a PDF.
Next, you will need to type in the title for the printable. The one I created in English is called Counting to Ten Algorithm Coding Worksheet. You can type that in as the title in the language you choose to have your children explore.
Then you will need to type the word start in the box with the watering can. You can type the word in English or the language you are focusing on.
Finally, you will need to type the numbers 1-10 in the boxes. Each number box features flowers that equal that number and a word space labeled with that number. If you would prefer to type in numerals instead of words, that would be fun.
Exploring the Coding Worksheet
You can have your children work on building an algorithm (The series of steps needed to complete a task.) in a group or on their own. I work with the whole class at the same time. We talk about whether we need to move up, down, left or right to get from one number to the other. We also talk about how to connect the numbers with the fewest number of steps.
If you like this coding worksheet here are several more I have created. Some focus on science concepts and other sequence events from favorite children’s books.
