Gummy Candy Experiments are fun to conduct. This experiment features gummy frogs and a set of experiment recording printables! While this experiment focuses on frogs, you can use any type of gummy candy you have available to you.
What is the gummy candy experiment?
You will place the gummy frogs into four different liquids. Then you will see what if any effect liquids will have on the candy. Different liquids than the ones featured can be used. The featured liquids except for the soda all had a little bit of acid in them.
What printables are in this set?
One of the printables lists the supplies needed to conduct the gummy candy experiment. It also has a place to write your predictions and an area to write the results.
The second and third printables look just at the results. One of them has the liquids we used listed on it. The second has the area for the liquids left blank. You can have your children write in the liquids they select on each blank. Both printables have space for your children to write about how each Peep looks, smells, and feels. You could have your children explore how they taste and sound, but we decided not to do that.
Getting the Gummy Candy Experiment Printables
First, you will need to download the set.
Second, if you don’t have Acrobat Reader you will need to download it. The algorithm page is an Acrobat Reader PDF file.
Third, you will need to go to your download file and open the page. You may be asked if you want the file to open right after you download it. If you are, you won’t have to hunt for it in your download file.
Conducting the Experiment
After deciding on the liquids you want to use, you will need to place them in small containers. (We used plastic cups). Then you will need to place a frog in each container.
Next, you will need to leave the frog in the liquid for a few hours. If you have the time, you can leave it in the liquid overnight.
At the end of the frogs’ time in the liquids, your children will need to inspect them. They will need to share and record the results. If your children are too little to record results, you can have them share what they see, smell, and feel with your orally.
