Pulling pranks is lots of fun, but not all children will think the same things are funny. I tested the pranks below on JDaniel. He thought they were really funny, but I totally understand that not all children or parents think they are.
Here are the April Fools Day Pranks I Really Liked

It is not unusual for me to add a dash of something to the water we keep in the refrigerator. Sometimes it is a squirt of fresh orange, lemon or lime. JDaniel’s water cup of upstairs on his nightstand is usually filled with tap water. While he was busy playing, I added a squirt of lime juice to it. He noticed the change right away.

I bought a small roll of hazard tape and taped it to the lid of his toilet. As you can imagination, it might need it if I haven’t been into check in a few hours.
Turning Milk Green

JDaniel loves to pour milk for himself. He is really good at not spilling it if the jug is less than half full. I decided to surprise him by adding a little green food coloring to milk.
Frozen Milk in Cereal and Jello Juice

This is so easy to put together. You simply prepare the milk and cereal ahead of time and store it in the freezer.
I think fun preparing jello in a clear plastic cup and serving it with a meal as a drink was really fun.
A Raisin in the Toothpaste

I did the ‘candy’ teeny tiny bacon and eggs that was in Family Fun magazine a few years ago.
Fun ideas! I might try a couple on my husband, who is in some ways a grownup little boy. :))
Hah- this is so funny! I like the tiny meals! LOL!
Funny!!! That raisin would creep me out!
I love that tiny meal idea. Maybe I’ll have to pull a prank on my kids this year. They would definitely not be expecting it because I don’t think I’ve ever pranked them!
hahaha! My sister did saran wrap over the toilet seat in college. She also arranged a pie to hit someone in the face while they walked through the doorway of the bathroom! Let’s just say campus security was called and they still haven’t found her, ten years later. Your prank ideas are much more our speed. The teeny tiny breakfast cracked me up. The flavored water would NOT go over well with my three-year-old. She hate surprises!
I love this post!!! HOW FUN!!! Sharing and pinning!!! And thinking of which one I’ll want to use on my kids! =)
Oh goodness! Those are so funny! I’ve never done pranks before, but these would be fun to do.
These are great ideas! They remind me of the Elf on the Shelf at Christmas, lol.
A few of my kids love the pranks, but two of them don’t, so I try to go easy on April fools for them, lol. Im loving your ideas though, they’d be perfect for my family! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like fun! Not sure how well the flavored water would go over with my youngest, but the frozen cereal could be really cute! ;)-The Dose Girls
I am sure kids will like these pranks, they are really funny.
Those are really cute. And safe! We used to put food coloring in the milk every year growing up. Ours was tricky though because we drank powdered milk that was mixed in a colored pitcher. You couldn’t see it until you poured it on your cereal!!
Really cute ideas, all!
=)
Those are cool! I am going to have to try a few of those. Pinned!
Cute! My kids would think those are so funny!
Tesa @ 2 Wired 2 Tired
My favorites are the cereal and frozen jello. Will need to buy some clear plastic cups to do that. So funny!
Cute ideas! We do a little “trick” meal too. You can check it out here…http://eastcoastmommyblog.blogspot.ca/2013/03/april-fools-day-treat.html
Haha! These are funny!
What a cute list!! Now I just need to pick which one I’m going to do this year! Thanks for stopping by!
I really like the tiny food prank! I may do this to my husband!
I love the jello drink. Might be even more believable as juice if you add just a few drops of water on top.
These are adorable! Definitely trying some of these on my little boy this year!
I can see April Fools is going to be fun at your house.
This has inspired me. I love the tiny food. My 15 year old is always demanding food ALL the time. He is always starving. I can’t wait to see his face when I hand him the tiny food. I think I’ll do the flavored water to my 3yo since she is hilarious when she licks a lemon. Definitely pinning this one.
We haven’t done any pranks with the kids yet, but they may just be getting old enough to have a little fun this April Fool’s….
Green milk did NOT go over well with my youngest on St. Patty’s Day, but the flavored water or jello “juice” might be a hit!
I love the tiny breakfast idea.
My daughter loves silly pranks. I really do need to make a point to do something for April 1st this year.
Haha, those are cute ideas. I like the idea of silly, funny pranks. I might have to try some out on my husband 😉
Your pranks are fun and not mean spirited or too tricky at all which is how I view April Fool’s day.
Love these ideas. I definitely want to steal a few to try on my kids this year. Stopping by from SITS.
The frozen cereal and jello juice was the funniest. I could imagine the frustration followed by hysterical laughter 🙂
Great ideas.
What fun, cute ideas! I love the frozen cereal and the tiny meal. 🙂
I love little pranks like that. Last year I tied everyone’s shoelaces together before I went to bed. Then I switched the bags inside the cereal boxes just for extra fun. You think you are pouring Cheerios and Frosted Flakes comes out. My favorite is an office prank. You take some paper and write April Fool’s on it and then put it back in the paper tray. Everyone’s copies start coming out with April Fool’s all over them and they can’t figure out why.
Oh I love these April Fool’s pranks!! The tiny meal is adorable and I love the jello juice! What fun! 🙂
those are so cute!!!! love all of them. we have never really done April Fools before, so we might need to start 🙂
i would crack up laughing if i did the tiny meal to marc 🙂
It’s fun to mess with kids heads a little 😉
Ha! LOVE these ideas! Might have to do a couple on the hubs. 🙂

This list is GREAT! I found you from Rachel Harwood’s Sun Scholars feature. I appreciate you finding ones that are just funny, but not unkind or insensitive in any way. So going to use some of these next year, and my boy/girl twins will be 7 then, so they’ll be a perfect age to really appreciate April Fool’s. Thanks again!
