Getting the Activity Ready to Explore
After you have printed out the set, you will need to cut out the set of nest and egg circles and number circles you plan on using.
Next, you will need to decide what objects will be used to count. Buttons, glass pebbles, beads, or other sets of small objects can be used.
Finally, you will put the egg and nest circles into the muffin tin cups. You can place them in number order or randomly. If you want to have your children focus on number sequencing, you will want to put them in number order.
Exploring the Number Matching Activity
Number and Object Match
Children can place the correct number of objects into each nest. They can be encouraged to count the objects one at a time as they place them in each cup.
Count the Eggs and Match the Number
Children can count the number of eggs in each cup and place the correct number circle into each cup. Then they can add the correct number of objects to each cup if you would like them to.
Find the Number
You can call out a random number between 1 and 10. Then your child could place an object on top of that number. You can continue to call out numbers until all of the numbers are covered.
Build a Math Sentence
Your children can start by placing an object in the muffin cup with an egg and nest circle. They can continue by adding the correct number of objects into each of the muffin cups can be added together to equal that number.
