Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss’ birthday. JDaniel and I will be heading to the celebration of his birthday at Target tomorrow. I think Target stores everywhere are having a celebration. In honor of his birthday, I decided we would read three Dr. Seuss books.
Dr. Seuss Books We Read

The Lorax
We started with the The Lorax . It is all about saving the trees and an awareness that we have to give back.

What did we do?

I made JDaniel a Lorax sandwich with his favorite cheese rolls. I think it came out well. JDaniel announced that he was not into cheese rolls anymore. That meant I got to eat the Lorax sandwich minus his eyeballs. It turns out he still likes those foods.
The Tooth Book
Then we read The Tooth Book. JDaniel is big into grouping things right now. He loved that this book is all about teeth.
What did we do with this book?
JDaniel and I searched in magazines for pictures of people with teeth showing. After gathering the pictures, we put them in a roasting pan and covered them with Moon Sand.

JDaniel then used an old toothbrush to uncover everyone’s teeth. This fine motor activity gave JDaniel the opportunity practice the motion used to brush his teeth. It was fun to clear off green Moon Sand and see the pictures that had been covered up.

What did you do that tied in with books this week?
I just got the Lorax from the library yesterday. I want to do something fun with it too. Not sure what direction to go yet. I always LOVE your food!! Maybe my picky eater would eat if it looked like that? Great books and post!!
It can’t hurt to try. JDaniel loves food creations!
I love your activities! Very creative. I haven’t read What Was I scared of? so maybe we’ll try that one this year.
What Was I Scared Of? is one of our favorites. It is short and so silly.
Cute Lorax sandwich and I love all the activities that you listed! We love Dr. Seuss books 🙂
We love the variety of topics and themes they cover.
That is such a cute Lorax sandwich! Looks like you two had a lot of fun with all of the activities.
We really had a great time!
Your Lorax lunch is adorable! We really like Dr Seuss books here.
Thank you! It was fun to make!
I LOVE the sandwich – so super cute!
I am hoping to do some Dr. Seuss stuff this week with the kids – I used to celebrate it every year on his birthday with my school kids…
What kinds of things did you do with you students?
I love the Lorax! You always do such a great job!
Thank you! We love the cheese rolls. When I was cutting one open for lunch, the Lorax came to mind.
I love the sandwich! You are so creative!
Thank you so much!
SO cute! I bet that sandwich was better than green eggs and ham!
It was so much better.
I love the Lorax! We are going to a play tomorrow called Suessical. All the teachers in our district put on fantastic play each year as a fundraiser. They are like broadway…so good! Emily’s school is doing a Dr. Suess’s day on the 1st…so it never gets old for the kids.
I read about the play. It sounds like it was wonderful!
What cute ideas to do with your little guy! I remember one time we had green eggs and ham with our kiddos. Oh! Yeah, we had green milk, too. They loved this! Of course, I worried about everyone’s kidneys having to process all that green food dye. lol. They are adults now so I guess all is well. Have a good weekend and thanks for visiting on Thursday!
I am so glad they were okay. It sounds like fun!
We can’t wait to go see The Lorax! I love that mustache!
They passed mustaches out at the Target Suess event on Saturday. I plan to take pictures of JDaniel and I wearing it.
I featured your cute post over on my blog today! (I meant what I said…when I said I loved it!)

Who could pass on the Lorax? Kids are so fickle! I adore all things Dr. Seuss. Thanks for making me smile!
Cheese rolls were what sold JDaniel on the meal.
Your Lorax snack looks perfect! I love it!
I love reading What Was I Scared Of? I think my kids would love Hide the Green Pants.

Dr. Seuss is my absolute favorite! If I could have convinced Craig, I would have done a nursery in it. Your food plate is freakin’ adorable, too.

We are looking forward to it too.
