I love to visit Sue’s blog Sue’s News, Views ‘n Muse. She has a wonderful writing style that flows. Sue is a huge fan of spending time with family. The posts that she shares about her family as some of my favorite. I met Sue via Mrs. Matlock’s Alphabe Thursday. She is regular on the hop. I am so blessed to stop by to visit on Thursdays as well as other days of the week.
Thanks to our good friend JDaniel4’s Mom for inviting me to guest post. This blog is always a delightful place to visit, and I am excited to be a part of it today. I especially like the idea of pausing life for a moment, and though I’m not always good at it, I’m a lot better than I used to be!
our own when necessary is a meaningful gift, one that every mother willingly makes. But the remaining whole is important too, and the trickle-down effects of a mother’s good self-care benefit the entire family. Christ was the most selfless Servant imaginable, yet even He knew when the time had come to withdraw and nurture himself, particularly when demands upon Him were heavy: “…and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. And he withdrew himself unto the wilderness, and prayed” (Luke 5-15:16). We all need those moments of solitude sometimes, and we need to make time for them, giving ourselves permission to withdraw into our wilderness, too.

Mommy Maintenance!! I love it!! Can we get this trending on Twitter. Why isn’t this a part of our everyday lives and not just something we try to squeeze in every now and again when we just can’t take anymore and are about to fall apart?! Love this post!!

I think so many today underestimate the enormous task of raising children and running a household! It’s a full time job!
JDaniel4's Mom says
I have had working outside of the home moms tell me that think it is just as much of a full time job to stay at home.

Great post, Sue – I could have used that advice in years past. But I think it still holds true no matter what stage of life you’re in. We all still need to take that quiet introspective moment, that creative time, to reset and rejuvenate our spirits.

Karen- It really does apply to everyone!

This is something I need to work on. I put everyone and everything first that I often forget to take time for myself

OOOhhh, what a great idea. I really need some Mommy maintenance. As Kimberly said, I tend to take care of everyone else first. Thanks for the gentle push!

You are the best, Sue! I needed to read this today. And guess what? It just so happens that my best friends and I are getting together this evening to go have dessert then go to Target! 🙂 It’s an outing we all so look forward to!

Haaving children and rearing them is just the best!! But you are so right, Sue. Mom just needs to take care of herself too. I was fortunate because even though I had five children, I was able to have some time to myself. If I hadn’t, I don’t know how I would have managed. Mommy maintenance is such a great policy.
JDaniel4's Mom says
I so agree!

It Is only when we learn to treat ourselves kindly that we can really give back, without forgetting who we are.
