Lisa of Two Bears Farm and I were talking about our “allergy boys”. Cort one of Lisa’s three sons has allergies similar to JDaniel. Cort has to spend a lot of time inside during the spring and has needed to get the allergy tests done just like my little guy. We thought it would be fun to put together an “Allergy Boys” exchange for them. Each would get a box of fun things to explore and play with on days when they need to be inside. Both boys would rather be outside, but it is not always possible.
JDaniel and I had fun putting a box together for Cort. Cort is almost two and so I tried to get things he could do on this own as well as things he could do with his mom and older brother. I hoped he would also share them with his twin brother.

We got the following:
Foam Dots
The dots could be used to create patterns, sort by colors, used to leap from spot to spot, or stuck to the wall of the bathtub when wet to give them bathtub pox.
Magnetic Alphabet Letters in a Puzzle
I thought they could be used to practice letters or find matching letters on the Thomas the Train placemat we also included.
A Fire Truck Craft Kit
JDaniel loves fire trucks I hoped Cort would like making one.
A Sound Wand
This could be used as a marching baton, to practice rolling, or to shake and whirl to make noise.
Water Balls
These balls are designed to be played with in water. I thought he could try to make baskets in the tub or sink with them.
Robot Stickers
They are such fun to stick on things. Hopefully in just mom approved locations
Purple Metal Box
Things can be hidden the box and clues given as to what is under the box lid.
Books
Two board books that were favorites of JDaniel when he was two.
A Purple Silicone Egg Mold
I found it at Hobby Lobby for 90% off. Lisa and I are both Muffin Tin Moms. I stuck in the box more for her that for Cort.
JDaniel has loved exploring his box from Two Bears Farm. Here are a few pictures of things he has played with so far:

JDaniel loves giving the creatures from his haircut kit crew cuts.

What other indoor activities would you suggest for our “allergy boys”?
This post is linked to Mrs. Matlock’s Alphabe Thursday. It is “E” week.

We have so enjoyed our box. You will see the egg mold on Monday’s MTM! I wrote the post yesterday (sshhhh, don’t tell anyone, okay?)
Great ideas and toys! Shame, it is very bad when a boy can’t play outside! 🙁
Water or ice play on a shower curtain liner in the kitchen.
GREAT idea to do that exchange!
What a great idea! Looks like you guys had a blast with the toys your received!
Such a good idea! Those poor kids… we thought my one year old had allergies but it turns out he has eczema. I hope he doesn’t get allergies on top of it!
I had no idea seasonal allergies could be that bad. It is such a wonderful idea this box creation for each other.
I’m so glad you shared.
I recommend Window crayons and markers by Crayola, use them on a sliding glass door, hours of fun and comes off easy.
What about filling up the kitchen sink with water and getting some little fish to put in there and have them dig them out with a net. My son always had fun doing that.
Last idea take a flatter big storage container (like the ones that fit under a bed) and fill it with rice and some sand toys. Fun to play with, easier than sand to clean up.
My daughter has just started with allergies this year. It is hard, because we love to be outside. I have a lot of fun things to do inside. Thank you for the suggestions. I hope you are doing great! Have a good day!
Mama Hen
Oh, this is such a fun idea!
The water balls sound like fun! I love toys like this. Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by my blog 🙂
Wow, loving some of the ideas here. I think I may try fish in the sink – we have a little collection of plastic dolphins we could use!
You have shared some great ideas! And so have those that have left comments here :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
What a sweet idea to cheer up two little guys who are stuck inside…
It seems that your boy has had a lot of fun — great exchange! 🙂
Oh, what a clever, clever swap! This is one of the neatest things I’ve read about in a long time.
How amazing it is to see two Mom’s band together to help their kids through a tough season!
Thanks for making my heart smile with this excellent idea!
A+
Excellent Exchange idea!
JDaniel is one lucky kid to have a mom like you!! Great post!!

Great ideas!
And if you have room, the Melissa and Doug catepillar tunnel. Or a tent for inside. Something to crawl in and out of.
Hugs to the boys! I hope the allergens are out to sea soon.
I think you ladies both did a great job!
Hope the allergies soon but that you keep sending eachother little kits!
Thanks for sharing

That’s wonderful that you all exchanged boxes! I love it!
puzzles are always good.
What a nice idea. All those little bits and bobs looked great!
i love your place here, friend, and your love for your boy.
Great ideas for indoor entertainment. Love it and visiting from #commenthour
What a fun box! My 2 year old loves playing with uncooked rice – kind of like sand. Don’t know if this is an allergy issue for you or not. It certainly can be a cleaning issue!

Great ideas and photos!
Visiting from #commenthour.
Very cool ideas. This would have definitely come in handy this week, since has rained just about every day this week here in NJ.

What a fun idea for your little guys! Allergy is a misery to deal with. I know it is even harder for little ones that want to be outside.
That is brilliant! I love the version of the potato head!
Stopping by from #commenthour (very late) I think this is an adorable idea and so great that you were able to share the same experiences with someone else-that’s what I love about blogging all the connections you make!

As my kids luckily do not have those kinds of allergy problems, reading this post brought into perspective how hard it would be for other mothers to come up with creative and safe ways to keep the kids occupied when you cannot just toss them outside with a ball and be done with it. My kids actually do have the magnetic letters… but most of the alphabet has mysteriously disappeared over time! Hmm…

Such a good idea! Allergies are not fun at all. 🙁
Nice idea. looks like he got a lot of nice things to keep him busy.
Hi again!
Great ‘E’ post – such a fun idea!
Have a great weekend ahead & look forward to *seeing* you again next time,
LOLA:)
What a great idea and with such fun stuff.
O h the allergies this year! My supposedly NONallergic son has blossomed with horrendous pollen allergies which have lead to eye infections, bronchitis…Ironically, our very allergic son, who tested positive to just about every living plant, is just FINE! I’m ready for a hot dry summer!
What a great idea! My kiddos have seasonal allergies and unfortunately we live in one of the top 100 worst cities for allergies. I know of at least 2 families who have moved out of state because someone in there family had such bad seasonal allergies!
