I found these cute muffin liners and flag picks at Hobby Lobby on clearance over the summer. They made a really cute addition to my football themed tin.
Along with two football shaped sandwiches are a collection of grapes that look like footballs if you squint. One of the grocery stores near us was having a Grapeapalooza Festival and I thought it would be fun to try a variety of grapes.
Here are the grapes we tried:
1. Black grapes- JDaniel loved the black grapes. He said they tasted like cherries.
2. The White Prince grapes- These were okay .
3. Red organic grapes- These grapes were yummy according to my preschool aged food critic.
4. Large Sweet Royal red grapes- He said that these were yucky. I happened to like them all.
It was fun to try some new foods even if they didn’t all go over well!
Do you have a favorite type of grape?

Great tin! Hooray for football. =) We are pretty boring with grapes over here, only eating purple or green. =)
Lisa @ Two Bears Farm says
I never knew there were so many types. Sometimes I buy those extra huge green grapes – they’re fun.
Grumpy Grateful Mom says
My kids would love that–they are big grape eaters. How fun to give JDaniel so many different types!
Sue says
So much fun.
I think I’d like eating a snack at your house.

Have to say I’m a green grape girl myself; the kids always like red ones, though. Love the little “football” themed snack.

To me, the red grapes are like candy. So sweet and delicious!

“that look like footballs if you squint” – how funny! 🙂
My favorite grapes in all the world are the delicious Concord grapes that grow on our very own vine. Fortunately, our harvest was abundant this year, and I reveled in it. 🙂

Cool I love the football theme. My kids love the purple and red grapes. They are so big on green grapes.

We like grapes in our family too. We like to get the big purple ones from Costco, they never fail to be wonderful.
Blessings and happy week!

A great tin!! I love red grapes the best.

I’ve only ever had red grapes and green grapes. Are the black grapes only available during a certain time of the season?
Jessica {Team Rasler} says
Oh, I love that you did grape comparisons! I don’t know if I’ve ever had the black grapes. My preschooler loves the same little red grapes as yours. : )
SnoopyGirl says
How fun to try all the different kinds of grapes. There are champagne grapes available sometimes at our store. They are perfect for little fingers because they are so tiny. You may want to try those some time too.
Barbara says
That looks delicious! I love red grapes and my husband only eats white, I guess we truly are a ying-yang couple!
Megan (Best of Fates) says
Those are adorable! And I have to admit… I mentally clump all grapes together!
Anne - Mommy Has to Work says
My son loves the green the best. We had a football themed party yesterday. Yeah for football!

That’s fun that you tried so many kinds. I used to like the green grapes best, but lately I’ve been liking red too.

I could eat my weight in grapes. Same with my 7YO – he likes all kinds of grapes but my 5YO won’t go near them. I could try to convince my 5YO that grapes are fun…like little footballs. But then he will of course throw them around the kitchen.

So fun! My boys love football so this would be a super fun tray!

I love the Grape-a-palooza! 🙂 My kids also love black grapes the most, but they’re often much more expensive, so we tend to keep green grapes on hand.
Hopes@Staying Afloat! says
Adorable! We all love grapes in this house and don’t really care what color they are as long as they are seedless.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! You gals are so creative with your cute little muffin tin lunch ideas!! I wish my kids were little again so I could play along! But I’ll just have to wait for Grandkids!

I had no idea there were so many types of grapes! Scupernongs are my favorite, for sure. 🙂

Black grapes- oh boy we must try them. Another fun activity is turning raisins back into grapes by having them soak in water! What a fun project 😉

unfortunately, i don’t like any type of grape. and i was born and raised in the wine country – napa valley. oh well, i just enjoy the grapevines and the scenery. : )

What a great idea to try different kinds of grapes! I am going to use this inspiration in the future to make something similar, maybe with different types of cheeses or apples, as my kids aren’t super fond of grapes. Cute picks in them too!
Niki says
I generally stick to red and green grapes, simply because they’re always on sale at our grocery store. But one time we got the purple ones and they were yummy (tasted like grape juice!). But they stained really badly and I haven’t gotten them since.

sad to say, i did not know there were so many different kinds… so far, we love them all, but i will always for grape first 🙂
