JDaniel and I recently had friends over for lunch. It was great to get together with friends. Since school got out, JDaniel has missed seeing some of this favorite people. I thought they would enjoy having a Fourth of July themed lunch.
While I put together muffin tin meal for the kids, JDaniel set the table with placemats and napkins. He wanted the table to look just right for his friend.
Even though the Fourth of July was still a few weeks away, I went with a Fourth of July theme. The tins were filled with turkey hot dogs wrapped in bread stick dough (I thought they looked liked the stripes in the flag.), frozen yogurt smoothie stars, sliced tomatoes, catsup for dipping, blue corn chips, and blueberries.
JDaniel ate all of this lunch. His friend inhaled the berries and chips. I guess they weren’t really into the other foods. While they are not a picky eater, they really seemed to know what they like.
While they are great friends, I guess they like to eat different things. I will have to check with his mom and see what his favorite foods are so I can serv them next time.

Disclaimer: I will be receiving this week’s collection of MemeTales books to download for JDaniel for free in exchange for mentioning them in this post.

How fun that he got to host some friends. Pierce’s friends often don’t care for the same foods that we eat either.

My daughter’s friend eats nothing but healthy foods. It’s funny how she influences my kid with green bell peppers for a snack instead of a cookie! 🙂
Mellissa Hanks says
HAHA yes she always munches her veggies when she is here :O) we got through a bell pepper a day!

I love the hot dog idea. So much cuter (and cleaner) than using a bun! I think my little one would have inhaled everything in that tray! 😉

I can’t wait to start Muffin Tin Lunches with my son! He still doesn’t get the concept of serveware, haha – he throws all the food off of it onto the floor for the dogs.

Why do I never think of all of the fun things you can do to cook a hot dog?! You always inspire me to do some more fun things with my girls’ food. Btw, they loved freezing their own yogurt into the shaped ice cube trays we have. They stuck little lollipop sticks in them and turned them into popsicles.

Your food looks like fun! <3

Kids always seem to like different things. Even my two girls will not eat the same foods when I make lunch or dinner.

This is wonderful – I’m going to start muffin tin meals with J soon as I think it may help his pickiness and try new things.
