growing & learning with him
By Deirdre
Welcome! My name is Deirdre and I am JDaniel4's Mom. After teaching in Virginia for twenty years, I was a stay at home mom learning and growing beside my son JDaniel the 4th for five years. I recently went back to teaching at a local school here in South Carolina.
Mama to 4 says
pray without ceasing. God is in control. Worrying helps nothing. You are a good mom keep doing all the things you are doing. Kids will be kids and accidents will happen just give each day to The Lord. 🙂

It is the scariest thing when they end up in the hospital. The day Hayley fell and messed up her face, I was in tears. It is just plain hard. You are a great caring mommy!!
Mom vs. the boys says
keep faith, it’s all we can do. it’s tough in this middle place isn’t it? when we are caring for our babies and our aging parents as well.

In the last year I have to tell you I have been to the hospital because of my mother and chest pain but hers turned out to be very serious issues. (She had an aortic dissection in February and another one in August). Then last week my father calls and says they are having an ambulance take my mother to the ER because of a bloody nose. They had to do surgery to stop one side. The other side was done another way.
So I get nervous every time I hear the phone ring. Last year at this time it was my father who had been taken by ambulance to the ER due to a stroke.
I have been to the ER myself for a few issues (some serious).
I know in my head that worry does not good for anyone but it is hard not to worry.
The Activity Mom says
So scary and hard when you can’t “fix it”. Love your message and trust and faith.
Mudpiesandtiaras says
It is scary when they get hurt for sure!

Bobo hit his head on the coffee table a couple of weeks before Christmas two years ago. It was our first trip to the emergency room. After, I posted on FB and lots of friends were surprised it was our first trip. They shared their experiences, which alleviated some of my mommy guilt.
~SHANNON~ says
Sending you big hugs, I read this post with a lump in my throat for you! I am so glad this trip turned out okay. But I can definitely understand your worry and concern! I’ll keep you guys in my prayers. Hugs to you! PS. Good daughter taking it seriously!
Lola says
Such a scary time for you!
Sofia @ From PDX with Love says
Things happen that are out of our control. You did what you could the day your little boy got hurt. By staying with him and telling him how much you love him you made it easier on him. So there is no need to feel guilty. I am glad your mom is doing better. Keep doing what you are doing, momma!!
Celebrate Woman says
Oh, those worries. I am glad you did go to the hospital with your mom, though. Better safe than sorry!
Lisa @ Two Bears Farm says
Glad your mom was fine! Hopefully you stay away from the ER for a very, very long time!
Esther Joy says
I felt your anxiety as I read your post. I’m glad your mom is okay, and add my prayers to yours that JDaniel will be just fine, too!
Paloma says
I am sorry! I am sure you must really fear this season then! 🙁 … I hope everybody will be fine! continue to pray!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
Here’s hoping that there are no more emergencies over there!
Ludicrous Mama says
Oh how scary! We’ve had two this year, one for each girl. “Luckily” I hadn’t been concerned either time, so I wasn’t freaking out on the way. They both turned out to be more serious though, but it’s easier to handle when medical professionals are taking care of it, even with the uncertainty.
Barbara says
How scary. I”m glad that everything turned out ok! I have this constant worry after I had to take my son to get stitches a few months ago. All we can do is pray and trust.
Trisha @ Inspiration Laboratories says
So glad to hear your mom is all right. I don’t like visits to the ER. We had to take my son there twice last year. It can be very scary.
Riet says
Do not worry too much my friend, you get so nervous . Try not to bring it over on JDaniel. Kids can’t grow older without accidents now and then, kids will be kids. I had four sons and things happened but kids heal pretty good and quickly. I know because I have been there. I hope your mother will be alright soon.,have a nice week.
Katie Culpepper says
I was just in the emergency room with my son aboout 2 weeks ago. He too has a huge Frankenstein scar just above being in between his eyebrows. The massive amount of blood makes it so scary, and now we have the reminder of what happened (and exactly how many stitches, you can count the holes!)
Debbie McConnell says
Scary situation, I too have doubted the seriousness of medical situations and then felt guilty later even when there was no need to be.
Good to hear your mom is ok … no more trips for you for a long while…
Sue says
It really is hard when our kids get hurt, but the more you go the ER, the more used to it you get. I had three boys and a harum-scarum girl, and I’ve been there for more stitches and broken arms than you can count.
Glad your mom was okay. A lot of women get palpitations and tachycardia as they approach menopause. I sure did.
=)
Blond Duck says
I’m so sorry to hear that! Halloween is always a bad time for us too…death, heart attacks, car wrecks…
Krystle (Baking Beauty) says
So scary. Sending prayers your way.
Personalized Sketches and Sentiments says
I’m sorry to hear of your trips to the ER, but very happy to hear that JDaniel (last year) and your mom (this year) are doing well. Yes, it is a blessing to rely and have strength in the Lord…and I thank Him for the many blessings. (It was through His Word and Him that I was able to draw strength during the many, many days when our (back-then 14 year old) son was hospitalized for chemo treatments. …& so thankful that those challenging days are many, many years behind us and that he is strong, healthy, soon to graduate from college and then to be married to a wonderful, wonderful girl :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
Gattina says
Oh yes I know that and can feel with you ! Only I when such a thing happened (fortunately only twice) I have a kind of black out I do every thing right without any feelings like a robot and once it is over I break down ! You know keeping an eye on him won’t help to avoid accidents. He has to make his own experiences and you can’t wrap him in cotton. It’s not good either for a little boy to be watched all the time that could make him feel insecure. One thing is for sure, he will pay attention the next time !!
Paula @ Simply Sandwich says
So glad your mom is okay (and JDaniel of course!). I know how hard it is when our parents are not up to par and you are trying to handle kidlet care too! Will be keeping you all in my prayers!
Combatbootmom says
Worrying must run in our family. I am always wondering if I could have done something better. When the kids get colds (weekly) I wonder if I should be taking them to the doctor’s or waiting it out. We will go again tomorrow just in case. Thanks for being such a caring daughter and Mom!
~ Noelle says
prayer is powerful….
you are such a good person, so you can not worry 24/7…be cautious yes, but no need to stress yourself with worry…
Ticia says
Emergency rooms are scary no matter how often you’ve been
Good job remembering to pray
EG CameraGirl says
Very scary and I’m so happy that all is well after all!
Leigh Powell Hines says
I hope your mom is doing OK. It sounds as if she is. We just never know what may be in store for us. I hope we all stay out of the emergency room.
I know you live Charlotte area, and I’ve not gone through the entries so I apologize if you have already entered, but just wanted to let you know that I am giving away two-luxury nights at the Ballantyne hotel for one lucky reader. It ends 11/17. This would be a good getaway for you and your husband.
agapewoman says
I’ve had my shares of trips to the emergency room, so I know how you feel. Glad everyone is ok, visiting from SITS.
Raising a Happy Child says
So far we’ve been blessed – our only emergency trips were for a pink eye (we have an emergency clinic that dispenses medications for this kind of emergencies). I agree – ER visits can be extremely scary. Here is hoping that there will be no repeats for you any time soon.
misssrobin says
I’m glad everything is okay. I hope you can relax a bit now.
I have five kids 14-21. And a hypochondriac husband. We’ve been to the emergency room many, many times. So far, all good turnouts. Aren’t you grateful for emergency rooms? I’m so glad to have that option, if only for the peace of mind I can get on a Saturday instead of worrying all weekend until the doctor’s office opens.
Best wishes for no more visits for you!
Happy Sharefest. Have a great weekend.
Khloé Belle Gadson says
I know scary it is to see your kids go through something.
When I had to take my daughter to the emergency room with a nose injury, I couldn’t face her. She was so little. Her face was bruised but she seemed fine even in the ER. she was smiling and playing. She calmed my nerves. Thank goodness for the innocence of kids. They are beautiful m
Christine says
So glad to hear that your mom is OK. ER visits are no fun at all and definitely scary, especially when they involve our kids or our parents. I hope that you don’t have to visit the hospital again for a very very very long time.
Liz says
I am so glad your mom is doing well!!
