Getting the Geometry Shapes Activity Ready
Getting the Mats Ready
- First, you will need to download a STEM Snowman Activity Building Shapes Around Snow Globes.
- Next, you will need to open the set with Acrobat Reader.
- Then you will need to print them out in color.
- Finally, you will need to laminate or cover the mats with plastic.
Getting the Building Supplies Ready
While we used short craft sticks or popsicle sticks as building materials, you could use any of the building supplies below.
- Sticks
- Q-Tips
- Sections of a Plastic Straw
- Narrow LEGO Bricks
You will want to make sure that you enough building supplies for each of your children to complete each of the shapes. Your kids will love building shapes. They may want to move on to a new shape as soon as they finish the first one.
Exploring the Geometry Shapes
Each of the mats features different geometric shape. It also displays other shapes. Various parts of the snowman and the snow globe are shapes. Please take the time to ask your children what other shapes can be found on the mat.
Once they have finished building a shape, you may want to see if they can find other objects around your room or house that are the same shape. It will be fun to conduct a visual shape hunt. Your kids will probably find objects that you may not have thought off.
