Color by code farm picture printables invites children to search for the numbers needed to bring a picture to life. The directions for this set of pages are displayed on Blockly blocks. That means this set would be a great way to introduce children to coding.
While you could have your children work on each of these pages, I would suggest choosing only one. They all focus on only a few numbers. However, you may feel that your children would enjoy or benefit from doing all of them. It will really be up to you to decide.
Building Background
Before you have your children start a color by code farm picture page, you may want to read a book about farms. Below you will find some of my favorite farm-themed books.
Getting the Color By Code Farm Picture Pages
First, you will need to download the set.
Second, if you don’t have Acrobat Reader you will need to download it. The algorithm page is an Acrobat Reader PDF file.
Third, you must go to your download file and open the page. You may be asked if you want the file to open right after you download it. You won’t have to hunt for it in your download file if you are.
Exploring the Color By Code Farm Pictures
Crayon Selection
While you can just give children a box of crayons and have them find the colors they need, you could just give them the colors need. Some children like to choose the shade of green or blue they want to use. Others may decide to disregard the colors in the directions. They will color the sections any way they want.
You can decide how much control you want to have over their crayon selection. If your goal is to have them follow the directions, then you may need to control the crayons more.
Find, Dot and Color
Younger children doing this page as a guided activity. First, you can have them find all of a certain number. Next, you can have them place a dot of the color that matches that number in its section. Once all of the sections have dots, children can go back and color each section fully.
Creating a Color Key
The color words on the directions may be difficult for non-readers. They can go through the directions with you. When you get to a color word, they can color over it with the correct color of crayon.
