Children will love watching seeds that they plant to grow. Some of the awesome gardening projects feature seeds that sprout quickly. Other gardening projects feature plants or seeds that will take a while to grow. If you are working on gardening at home or as a part of a long unit, you can select any of the projects below. If you plan to only explore plants for a short period of time, you will want to select the cress or grass projects.
Awesome Gardening Projects for Kids
It will be hard to decide which of these projects you can to do first. Since it can take a while for seeds to germinate, you may want to start a few of them at the same time. It will be fun to see which seeds sprout first.
Greenhouse or Container Projects
Egg carton greenhouses from Hazel and Company look like so much fun! Your children can plant a seed in each egg compartment and then cover the egg carton half with a plastic bag. Then they can wait to see which seeds sprout first.
Your children will be looking through the root observation window often if they help you create a root garden like What Do We Do All Day did. You can probably plant any type of seed or bulb in the container.
Plastic cup greenhouses like these from Mama.Papa.Bubba. are fun for children to create. Then they will be able to look into the top and watch their plants grow.
A paper plate greenhouse is fun for your children to create. Once your children have put it together, they will enjoy watching the seeds they place in it grow.
It will be fun to see what color of clear plastic egg will have its seed germinate first. We really enjoyed this STEM experiment at my house.

Growing Grass Heads like Red Ted Art would be loads of fun! Your children will have fun trimming the grass on their grass head!
Growing seeds without soil or hydroponic gardening will be fascinating for your children to see.
