JDaniel and I love creating in the kitchen and doing science experiments. This set of diffused water explorations features blooming tea flowers and a teapot from TeaBloom. We were sent them to review and explore. You can totally do the hot and cold infused water explorations with infusion ingredients and a container you have at home.
Creating Cold Infused Water
You will need to start by placing cold water in a pitcher or beverage container. The one we used was glass, but you may want to use a plastic container with younger children.
Next, you will need to add the fruit, vegetable or loose tea of your choice into an infuser. If you don’t have an infuser, you can place a teabag, the fruit or the vegetables right in the water.
Then you will need to let in steep. It will need to steep for about two hours for the water to be infused with the flavor of the fruit, tea or vegetables. You can then remove the object you are infusing
Creating the Hot Infused Water
If you are working with a teabag, fruit or a vegetable, you will want to place it in a heat-resistant container before adding hot water. If you have a blooming tea flower pod, you will add it after you add the water.
Next, you will need to let it steep. The pods, tea bags, fruit or vegetables will need to steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
Then you will need to remove the tea tags, fruit or vegetables. We left the flower in the pot. We thought it looks pretty! You can take it out if you like.
Exploring the Infused Water
You will need to download the Exploring Infused Hot and Cold Water with Your Senses Your children can record what they see, smell and taste as they explore the infused water. Your children can dictate their thoughts to you if you want them too. You will find a hot water and cold infused water worksheet in this set.
Then your children are ready to explore the infused water they have created by doing the following:
- Children can look at the water in the container they made the infused water in or a cup.
- Children can place their nose over their cup and decide what it smells like. Some children will say it smell like the fruit, vegetable or flavor of tea you infused the water with. Other children may come up with totally different scents.
- Finally, your children will taste the infused water. You may want to encourage them to tell you if the water tastes sweet, sour or tangy. It will get them to go beyond saying it tastes like the object you infused in the water.
